Congratulations to the talented finalists of the A2SV Hackathon!🙌

In first place, the Hugs for Bugs team took home US$1000 for their impressive online platform that provides African university students with comprehensive career resources, including internships, extracurricular activities, certifications, and more. We are excited to see how this platform will empower the next generation of African leaders💫

In second place, the Leet-Grind team won US$600 for their platform that connects African students and provides them with opportunities to improve their technical skills through collaborative projects. We believe this platform will be instrumental in fostering collaboration and driving innovation✨

Finally, in third place, the Infinity team won US$400 for their offline app that is set to help African students learn DSA concepts with problem-solving exercises and solution verification. We are impressed with the team's commitment to making education more accessible for students with limited connectivity🤌

We have a Hackathon competition you cannot miss today!✨

Everyone at A2SV is waiting to see the unpredictable outcome of our first-ever Remote Hackathon. Yes, there is a grand prize of US $2000 for the winning groups! 🙌

Today we host the finals, with 10 groups that have made it. From the 10, only 3 groups will be crowned winners💫

Who will determine the winning teams? We have an awesome jury of experts this year round! Our jury consists of global experts from Meta, Google, Snapchat, YC startup and Poligon Interactive.

As the teams present their demos, the judges will consider presentation skills, the potential social impact of the projects, market validation and the effectiveness of the product.

A2SV - Taking The Right Steps To Make A Difference✨

Our organization has had a sound start of the year and we are delighted to share some of our achievements from the first quarter.

First off, thank you Google for supporting our cause and helping us develop the A2SV program in Africa! We also received our first offer from Block, a major player in the tech industry, a testimony our team's hard work and an add to the top tech companies working with us.🙌💫

In addition, we hosted some successful events: an outdoor camp, Shark Tank, a Hackathon and the OBSS CodeMaster Competition prize pool. These events showcased our team's skills, expertise and also provided a platform for our students to learn and grow.🏆🏅

We were also proud to have our senior staff members visit Ethiopia for the first time, which was a valuable experience for them and an opportunity to strengthen our ties with the community. Our team comprises of talented staff on board who play an important role in our continued growth and success.💪

Remarkably, our program has expanded to Ghana, which is an important win for us. This exciting development will enable us to explore new opportunities in the region.

As part of our 2023 program, A2SV is currently training 250 promising students as a commitment to supporting tech education and our efforts towards developing social projects that can drive positive change in Africa.✨💫

Finally, we're also reforming our community and enhancing remote education. We believe everyone deserves an equal chance to succeed and we are working hard to make the A2SV program accessible to more African software developers. 💯

Overall, we are happy with our progress in the first quarter and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, new partnerships and impact.

Block, formerly Square, is an American multinational financial technology company that provides mobile payments solutions. During the course of the A2SV training, the students prepare for interviews and we thank our interview partners such as Google, Meta, and Bloomberg, for supporting us with the knowledge and guidance we need.

A2SV community squad is thrilled to announce our first-ever Remote Hackathon with a grand prize pool of 2,000 USD for all A2SVians!✨

This is a unique opportunity for our students to showcase their technical skills, work with passionate individuals, and collaborate to solve real-world challenges. For 50 hours, They'll work in teams of 3-5 to develop innovative solutions to African University Students’ problems💪

Congratulations Kenenisa for winning the OBSS Codemaster Competition🙌

Today we start the week by celebrating exceptional talent at A2SV. Recently, OBSS partnered with us for the CodeMaster Competition and Kenenisa Alemayehu, an A2SVian part of our Group 47 remote cohort won first place, scooping the 5000 euros grand prize!✨

The A2SV students showed their technical and analytical thinking skills to overcome real-life business challenges of CodeMaster. Kenesisa attends the A2SV training program remotely, and this shows how even those attending the A2SV program online can still upskill and excel like those doing in-person education.🙌

We hope this massive achievement for Kenenisa inspires other students to get out of their comfort zone and reach for their potential. Africa needs more talented software developers, and we are proud to be doing our part in training the next generation.

Our senior leaders will act as 'sharks,' providing valuable insights, asking critical questions, and ultimately deciding whether to give each project a green or red light.
