For perhaps the first time in Australian history, Victorian state bureaucrats have urged Leftists not to protest.
Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville, Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio, and police have urged a Socialist university group not to protest this Friday, or at least contain their protest to one place rather than marching through the CBD.
Left-Wing city protests in Melbourne are characteristically aggressive and deliberately staged to disrupt traffic and antagonise workers and police, often by setting fire to Australian flags, making a large and organised police presence necessary.
“This is a really reckless and selfish thing these people are doing,” Lisa Neville said.
“I don’t want to see police having to pull people out of (fire-affected) communities to come in and manage a protest.
“There is a time for protests. It’s not this Friday”
Acting Assistant Commissioner Tim Hansen agreed with the ministers that Friday is not a good time.
“This is a distraction for us. We see frontline staff returning from the fire ground … fatigued that do need a break and this is now another operation we need to resource,” he told reporters.
