🚨 Crypto Exchange M2 Confirms $13.7 Million Breach, Says Issue Resolved Within 16 Minutes

The United Arab Emirates-based cryptocurrency exchange, M2 Exchange, said it swiftly resolved a security incident on Oct. 31 that involved $13.7 million. The exchange said customer funds lost during the incident had been restored, and normal service had resumed with additional security measures in place. Asset management company 21Shares has joined the list of firms that have filed applications with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF). On Nov. 1, 21Shares submitted an S-1 form to register its Core XRP Trust shares for listing on the Cboe BZX Exchange. Coinbase, the largest crypto exchange in the US, would serve as the fund’s custodian.

🇺🇸 Florida's CFO says state holds about $800 million in crypto investments

Florida's Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis said Thursday during a televised interview with CNBC that the state holds about $800 million in "crypto-related" investments in its portfolio. Patronis said he would not be surprised if the amount grew should former President Donald Trump be reelected next month. Earlier this week, Patronis said in a letter that Florida should direct "a portion of state retirement system monies into cryptocurrency."

💰 Institutional interest soars as CME bitcoin futures open interest sets new all-time high

As of Oct. 18, open interest (OI) on Bitcoin futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has reached a new all-time high of over $12.26 billion. This figure is up over 36% in the last two weeks and more than 3.5% higher than its previous all-time high, set in April. The surge in OI in recent weeks represents a sharp increase from previous levels seen during the summer. It is the highest recorded figure since April 1, when CME OI was at $11.84 billion.

💰 US spot bitcoin ETFs reach highest recorded total asset value after six-day inflow streak

🇺🇸 SEC gives NYSE and Cboe the go-ahead to list options trading for multiple spot bitcoin ETFs

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has given NYSE American LLC and Cboe Exchange, Inc. the green light to list and trade options on multiple spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds. "Specifically, the Commission finds that the proposed rule change is consistent with Section 6(b)(5) of the Act, which requires that an exchange have rules designed to prevent fraudulent and manipulative acts and practices, to remove impediments to and perfect the mechanism of a free and open market, and to protect investors and the public interest," the agency said in both filings.

On Oct. 11, Bitcoin ETF net inflows totaled $253.6 million. Fidelity’s FBTC ETF led the way with $117.1 million in inflows, while Ark’s ARKB ETF added $97.6 million. Bitwise’s BITB ETF posted $38.8 million in inflows, and Invesco’s BTCO said $7.9 million. VanEck’s HODL ETF contributed $14.3 million. Grayscale’s GBTC ETF, however, saw outflows of $22.1 million. Other funds, including those from BlackRock, Franklin, Valkyrie, and WisdomTree, remained flat.
