🇳🇬 In Nigeria, 792 people were arrested on suspicion of participating in a large-scale cryptocurrency fraud scheme (crypto romance scam) based on social engineering and personal relationships with victims.
The arrests took place on December 10 in Lagos, where fake investment schemes were being created. Among those detained were 148 Chinese nationals, 40 Filipinos, and Nigerians who recruited victims from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The scammers used phishing and social media to extort money through fake investment opportunities.
