I see people comparing this to what ISIS did in the Levant.

The difference is that when we used to do that, those statues were very much still being worshipped as gods.

ISIS destroys stuff that's been in a museum for 3,000 years because it "may still be used for idolatrous purposes". I can't recall the last time I saw a person offering libations to Marduk.

What we did was, of course, to take them off temples and into museums. Comparing Muslim intellectual dullness with Christian vandalism in an era where these same statues were the symbol of the deaths of thousands is just plain dishonesty.

May perpetual light shine upon him.

Ex Cathedra will continue as usual, of course. This is just a pet project after all

Big thing about to happen for those who follow this channel since the old days

The stupidest thing Trump has tried to do BY FAR is to try to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America".
The real name of the gulf is the Gulf of Spain, or the Gulf of New Spain 🇪🇸
KNOW IT

And in retrospect this is funny, because Pope Francis has been very modest in his appointment of liberals recently.

The consistory of 2016 was arguably the most liberal of his papacy, but he's on a streak of appointing moderates and cardinals from regions that are either traditionally moderate or conservative, such as Africa and Southeast Asia.

Some analyses say that the liberals in the curia are at a low point and that the moderates are gaining traction, but the conservatives number almost one-third too, not to mention how moderates nowadays seem to align with the "let's just avoid further controversy" mindset, which inevitably favors the conservatives.

God willing, Francis lives much longer and is able to do many more good things as pope, but the Curia is in an interesting position today.

You know, I'm a big fan of cinema, and I used to have this ritual with my dad where we'd watch every movie, regardless of how stupid it was, and I try to keep this alive today even without my partner in crime.

Today I watched Conclave, and I arrived to the conclusion that if we must bulldoze Hollywood and build a giant artificial lake there.

Spoilers ahead, and consider this a favor, as you won't need to disburse your hard worked money to watch that thing:

The Pope is dead, and one of his 3 best friends is tasked with being the Dean and presiding over the conclave.

Of course the 3 best friends are the leaders of the very liberal faction, and start a plot to get one of them elected. They talk about how they can't allow the curia to elect a certain Tedesco.

Tedesco is introduced with pomp, and is show explicitly as a rude and racist man, going so far as to mock an African cardinal by saying ironically that it's either him or "one of them".

Tedesco talks about how he plans to bring back Latin, tradition and the tridentine mass, and we're introduced to a Mexican who was appointed cardinal-bishop of Kabul by the Pope in pectore (secretly). The man had previously served in the Congo, where he led relief efforts for women who were being massacred and also led a mission in Baghdad.

Yadda yadda, terrorist attack in Rome, kills hundreds and destroys part of the Sistine Chapel, Tedesco gives a speech about how this was the result of 60 years of liberal relativism and calls for a religious war against muslims.

Mexican stands up, asks him what he knows about war, and if he's seen a frontline up close. Says we need to be moderate, and that the Curia is just a bunch of self centered egomaniacs.

To the surprise of nobody, Mexican wins, becomes Innocent XIV.

Movie ends with the new pope telling the Dean that he is intersex, and discovered that he was born with XX chromosomes despite having a male phenotype and genitalia, and says that the former pope knew about it and never said anything, because they realized that this is how God wants the church to be led: a middle ground between two extremes where everyone is equal under God.

Movie ends with the crowd cheering the new pope.

PS.: forgot to mention that the Mexican literally says that "the church is not Tradition, it's what lies ahead".

I won't even give my opinion, because I don't even know if I could get arrested for it. But you already know it.

They just learned what a berserker was, thought runes are ideograms for some reason, did a very poor job at googling and now you have grown men tattooing symbols from cartoons they don't even watch.

The funniest thing is that I keep seeing this online, so this is clearly not just one idiot.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help,
or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

I think a lot about martyrdom. The notion that heaven's door would be opened so clearly and surely is something I as a sinner can only hope for.

Then, my own soul whispers in my ear. And, you know, some of it is true.

I couldn't live farther away from a place of martyrdom. Or conflict in general. I have a comfortable life, I have a nice job. Without an effort, I live a more hedonistic life than the most depraved Epicurean could have ever imagined. And I know just how conniving and treacherous I am capable of being without so much as losing sleep over it.

Would my wretched, disgusting carcass not do anything, anything, it could to preserve its own mediocre life? When Christ Himself cried blood over the prospect of dying for humanity? When Peter didn't think twice before denying his own Master? When Judas saw everything that happened and still sold God for 30 coins?

This thought makes me ashamed and sad. But I still hope in the Spirit that I may be half as courageous as those men and women who live right under the Enemy's mouth, and who defiantly smile and know that this is just a test for something infinitely better.

Our God is the God of hope, and I hope in Him that when the time comes, despite my innumerable sins, I am deemed worthy of being among these people.

Lord, have mercy upon us. Give us courage and hope.

🔴 NIKOLAOS G. MICHALOLIAKOS:
A POLITICAL PRISONER UNDER ATTACK!

It is crystal clear that we are dealing with an assassination attempt!

Nationalists from all over Greece are donating blood for Michaloliakos’ treatment. An urgent protest has already been held outside the Board, and larger actions will soon take place.

The Greek government believes that they can murder a political prisoner, by violating even the “human rights” they so much like to talk about, without facing any consequences.

We ask our friends around the world to show that there will be no cover-up for that crime!
