Your role _ The detective
You’d probably be less interested in the obvious story and more interested in the parts that didn’t make sense
You’d want to know what happened, obviously, but mostly you’d want to know why people did what they did
You’d end up paying more attention to the people involved than the crime itself. What were they feeling? What were they hiding? And did having a reason actually explain what they did?
You’d probably understand the outsider more than most people would. Not because you’d excuse them, but because you’d want to understand them before judging them
And even after you found an answer, you’d still have one question left “But why did they want that in the first place?”
