After Netanyahu declared upon his arrival in New York yesterday that there was no ceasefire and that the IDF would continue to attack Hezbollah targets, a statement appeared on his English language Facebook page tonight that "Israel shares the goals of the American administration and values โโits role in achieving security stability."
Unlike yesterday's bellicose statement in Hebrew, this post only appeared in English.
The prime minister's supporters will continue to believe that the war continues "until the victorious end," while foreign diplomats are offered a different, "soft" version - "share, value, negotiate."
For now, it is clear that Israel continues to restrain itself and is not expanding the range of attacks, much less preparing (yet) for a ground invasion. This means that despite the threatening statements in Hebrew, the decision-making process is still dominated not by Dr. Bibi, but by Mr. Netanyahu.
