🚨 Raed Abu Al-Hummos, the Head of the Commission of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs, recently issued a statement about the “deliberate and systematic slow execution” of two Palestinian leaders,
Jamal Huwail and
Atta Abu Rumailah, currently held in "israeli" prisons.
Abu Al-Hummos urgently appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and other regional and global humanitarian organizations to intervene before it is too late.
He revealed the severe abuse to which the two leaders are subjected to: constant humiliation, cell raids, physical assault, and a harsh starvation policy designed to break them down physically and psychologically.
Both detainees have suffered
extreme weight loss, with
Abu Rumailah's weight falling below 40kg, putting him at risk of death. He also suffers from a serious heart condition and is in
urgent need of open-heart surgery, yet continues to be denied proper medical treatment.
Due to their deteriorating health, they were placed in confinement cells meant for severely weakened prisoners—but instead of receiving care, they face continued neglect.
Abu Al-Hummos emphasized that while prison conditions are generally harsh, the treatment of Huwail and Abu Rumailah amounts to a
premeditated assassination.
Jamal Huwail is a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council and has been imprisoned for eight months,
after the occupation failed to abduct him in October 2023. Atta Abu Rumailah, Secretary of Fatah’s Jenin regional branch, has been detained for over a year and a half. Both were arrested under allegations of incitement, but are now reportedly enduring what Abu Al-Hummos calls an intentional execution behind bars.
Both leaders have always adopted and encouraged the idea of national unity and resistance against the occupation forces, while also exposing the PA as an obstacle to these ideas.
