POST 1 - BOXING AND MARTIAL ARTS 🥊🥋
One topic of great importance for everyone to start thinking about more often than not is about martial arts.
There are plenty of options to do as martial arts but from my experience the best one to start off with is boxing. The way to progress through your martial arts I would encourage is:
Boxing ➡️ Kickboxing ➡️ MMA & BJJ
(BJJ being Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu)
The benefits of Martial Arts are insane. The list includes:
- Greater Fitness.
- Self defence abilities.
- Confidence.
- Toughness.
- Brotherhood like bonds with others who are involved.
And the list goes on.
The amount of people I personally know who have done barely anything if not nothing martial arts related is quite high.
Want to get started? If gyms are shut around you, too bad, there's ways to do it yourself, if not with a partner. If you want to start off at home get this gear:
- 16oz + 12oz boxing gloves.
- Mouthguard (that fits lol).
- 1kg/2kg pair of dumbbells.
- Skipping rope.
- If you can afford one or have a good place to put one get a punching bag.
- Long wraps for hands.
- Cones to practice footwork (alternatively spraypaint a T in your yard somewhere to follow along.
- If you have a partner get one size fits all headgear for protection because newbies can be reckless and uncontrolled.
Once you have gotten all this gear (the majority of it you can find on rebelsport) you can do a series of drills (refer to next post).
