POST 2 - BOXING AND MARTIAL ARTS 🥊🥋
First and foremost once you have all the gear and are mentally ready you need to figure out which stance you'll use. Stances are essential to keeping balance and remaining strong.
If you are right dominant you use the orthodox stance (right leg and arm back). If you are left it is southpaw (left leg and arm back). Refer to pictures below for orthodox vs southpaw.
Once you have this stance down and pat you can practice these combos:
- Jab
- Jab cross
- Jab cross hook (left hook if orthodox)
- Double jab cross
- Left and right uppercut
And there are countless more combos.
When doing these combos don't pull back the arm throw it out straight. Telegraphing your punches alerts your opponent to it coming. When doing it turn the foot (refer to videos for more info on that or dm me) especially on the cross (same leg turn towards opponent).
Exercises/drills you can do with the gear you acquired are:
- Skipping drills for footwork improvement.
- Slow punching with either 1kg or 2kg dumbbells (get normal down first).
- Bag is obvious.
- For wraps search up a video on how to do it. I don't wrap in between fingers because I was taught it would swell the hands up.
For exercises push ups, jogs and runs, and basically all the normal calisthenics help. I have learned that weightlifting really compliments boxing too.
