For anybody who cares, my food science lab tested recycled aluminum foil vs. new (virgin) aluminum foil and found out something shocking. Given how some foods cooked in these foils (like tomato sauce) can ionize metals out of the foil, these metals can be absorbed into the foods. Here's the finding: RECYCLED aluminum foil has much higher levels of LEAD, CADMIUM and other toxic elements, compared to new foil. Unless you like eating lead, buy new aluminum foil. Except for lead in car batteries, recycling is largely a huge fail.
