Many of you asked about questions related with MBZUAI, so I decided to answer to the questions that people mostly asked ⬇️
- Business or Engineering Track?
Engineering Track :)
- Have you been interviewed, and if so, how was it?
Yes, I had an interview on December 4th and received an invitation letter for an interview on December 2nd, where you must confirm whether you can attend the interview. The interview was chill and straightforward. Professor asked about my school, goals, and AI projects from my CV, including how LSTM works. Most of the technical questions were math-based (probability and matrix dimensions) and the questions were easy. At the end, he asked about my programming basics in Python. If you apply to the engineering track, expect mostly math questions and discussion of the projects and leadership experiences listed in your CV.
- What do you think played biggest role in your application: your stats or your achievements?
I think achievements played a bigger role than stats. From what I’ve heard, MBZUAI admissions officers focus more on your CV and accomplishments. For example, IOAI medalists were invited for interviews in the first week, while others were contacted later. Test scores don’t seem to be a major deciding factor, since many applicants with high SAT scores still didn’t receive interview invitations. But still, I’m not an admissions officer, so I can’t say for sure which part of the application matters the most.
That’s it! Hope I answered all of the questions and some of you now know me better :)
