The Brazilian judiciary has ordered the Federal Police (PF) to investigate Israeli soldier Yuval Vagdani, currently in Brazil, for alleged war crimes committed in Gaza🌐 The complaint was filed in Brazil by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), an international organization that reports crimes against humanity, war crimes, and human rights violations in Palestine. The foundation, based in Belgium, is
led by Dyab Abou Jahjah and Karim Hassoun.
🇵🇸 Dyab Abou Jahjah has publicly claimed ties to Hezbollah, described the 9/11 attacks as "sweet revenge," questioned the Holocaust, and mourned the death of a Hamas leader. Meanwhile, Karim Hassoun referred to Hamas's October 7, 2023, attacks as not being an "invasion."
📝 The Israeli citizen, on vacation in Brazil, is accused of being involved in the demolition of a residential block in Gaza using explosives in November 2024. This action reportedly took place outside a combat situation and targeted shelters for displaced Palestinians in the enclave during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
🏳️🌈 Lawyer Maira Pinheiro, the same who worked to support a false accusation of rape against a famous artist and who represents the Hind Rajab Foundation in Brazil, explains that the decision is based on the Rome Statute, to which Brazil is a signatory. The treaty, which established the International Criminal Court (ICC), came into force in 2002.
✈️ Sources close to the Israeli Embassy in Brazil argue that this measure is entirely illegal and
could set a dangerous precedent for approximately 300 Brazilian-born individuals currently serving in the Israeli Defense Forces.
