In 1963, Frank Sinatra's son was kidnapped. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of $240,000. All instructions were to be transmitted via a pay phone (it took eight calls). During one conversation, Sinatra ran out of the dimes he'd been dropping into the pay phone. The conversation ended at the most crucial point. This incident had such an impact on Sinatra that he always carried tightly bound stacks of dimes in his pockets. He was buried with change in his pocket.

The Hollywood sign was created in 1923, but not as a symbol of the global dream factory. It was simply an advertisement for new residential areas in Los Angeles, and the inscription was longer: HOLLYWOODLAND. The sign was intended to stand for about eighteen months, but thanks to the booming film industry in Hollywood, it was decided to remain.
