I Messed up. Semester-long depression

I wish someone had tattooed on my forehead when I was in Tim Hortons eating my muffin right after my flight from Chicago. Don’t waste your time like I did. College is hyped as the best time of your life, but no one warns you about how easy it is to waste your potential

Adjust to your new environment before it adjusts you. I walked onto campus acting like I didn’t need to settle in. I ignored the importance of exploring, meeting people, or even finding where the library was. This left me feeling disoriented and out of place for months. Don’t do this—spend the first week getting comfortable, asking questions, and actually learning your surroundings.

I used to shrug off assignments like they were optional appetizers. “Losing 3-4% here and there won’t kill me,” I thought. But skipping assignments killed my confidence and rhythm. Turns out, completing small tasks builds momentum and makes the bigger challenges easier. Don’t be lazy; every point matters.

Pulling all-nighters for exams made me feel like a warrior—until I saw my grades and the brain fog that followed. Trying to learn a semester’s worth of material in one night is stupid.

Asian students are the unsung geniuses of campus. They’re disciplined, efficient, and often incredibly generous with their help. Befriending them will improve not only your academics but also your perspective on hard work. Surround yourself with smart, inspiring people—it’s contagious.

Ever wondered about the meaning of the words "Go Big, Go Home"?
Niki Skene provided an interesting insight onto what they could stand for: it's about being embarrased. Basically, you came up with something; you're so embarrased when you talk about it, because you're afraid people laugh at you.

Hello everyone.
I am (Sophia) an ISEF finalist and the founder of Catalyst, a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting students to the world of research. I want to create this platform into something that raises the next generation of inventors. We’re looking for outreach directors and chapter leaders right now.

We want to partner with Ivy League universities and large tech companies like Google and Amazon to foster change and growth, but we need help.

Some of the opportunities we plan to offer students:
- Mentorship with Ivy-League students and professors
- Networking opportunities (for internships and startup jobs)
- chapter and club meeting plans
- detailed research guides
- and for the future, competitions that reward good research through connections with Ivy Leagues

This opportunity is only for dedicated and responsible students ready to commit to a meaningful project. You need to be able to go the extra mile to solve global problems and push the boundaries of modern technology!

I'm looking for high school builders to build something crazy, if you** breathe, think, and operate through futurism and innovation**, fill out the application.

I want something GENUINE, fueled by your love of the subject, not the possibility of Harvard sending you an acceptance letter.

Here are the executive board positions I'm looking for: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BCERGsGtkatg8SLwPy6_5lmSzBwQ2l2zcW96ne5Y9Kk/edit?usp=sharing
Here is the form to apply: https://forms.gle/HX1VEFYMn5t2XGST7
Also looking for chapter leaders who would establish research clubs in their area: https://forms.gle/ixSY7VdcJ16pgxwCA
