In my view, Trump had already made up his mind on Ukraine, Nato and Russia before even entering office. Turns out he did have a plan for "peace" and it's Ukraine's surrender.
I believe he will work to lift sanctions on Russia first and pull the U.S. out of NATO afterwards. All of this could happen in just a few months. We’re only 6 weeks into his 208-week term. Buckle up!
The recent White House meeting with Zelensky looked like pure theater to me, just an attempt to lower the public support for Ukraine. Trump has absolutely no will to support Ukraine even if Zelensky bended over everything, which I'm glad he didn't.
Meanwhile, the EU, as an economic alliance simply isn’t built to handle military matters effectively. Keep in mind that any realistic plans to create a common army, unify defences, projects, etc. will take at least 10 years. (We will know more on this by the end of march).
🇭🇺 Orbán and 🇸🇰 Fico will be blocking or slowing down every meaningful decision just as they did until now.
🇬🇧 Starmer, 🇵🇱 Duda and 🇮🇹 Meloni will keep trying to work things out with the orange orango because their ties and dependancy to the US is simply stronger than other EU countries. It could work but the cost for Europe would be very high on every aspect. I'm against this personally, but it's understandable.
🇩🇪 Germany just held an election, Merz still has to get into office, so for now it's hard to know what he will actually do. I don't expect much, I would just love if he followed Macron.
🇫🇷 Slava Macron is pushing for a stronger and independent EU but he's more alone than others. With all respect to 🇱🇹🇪🇪🇱🇻 baltics or others, the bigger countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK) right now are the ones who can steer the wheel and even they have a hard time doing that.
The 🇪🇺 European Council will be on the 6th of march. Today's meeting won't produce anything besides some statements.
Nobody in Europe will abandon 🇺🇦 Ukraine, regardless of the developments. (Except Orban and Fico of course, who already did)
There you have my sunday 🏴 blackpill...
Still, though, nothing happened.
