1) Hygiene
- Wash hands before eating & after using the bathroom. Even when urinating, fecal bacteria can transfer to the hands, & then could get into the mouth, eyes, or a microscopic epidermal cut.
- Don’t shit where you eat.
- Keep skin clean when possible. Dermatitis can hinder productiveness, & scratching can increase risk of infection.
- Burn remains, animal or human. Burying w/o proper placement can contaminate water.
- Don’t ignore dental hygiene. A toothache can not only hinder productivity, but can become septicemic.
2) Nutrients
- stockpile multivitamins for times of famine. Omega 3s are a good idea, too.
3) Wound care
- always clean wounds, no matter how minor.
- cover wounds to shield them from the elements, even if it’s just a scrap of (clean) T-shirt fabric. UV rays are a natural way to sanitize fabric.
4) Food prep
- boil all water for at least 10m, even if you’re just splashing your face in the morning. Viruses & bacteria can enter lacrimal sacs, & can flagellate on skin oils towards the oral orifice.
5) Isolation
- the less contact w others, the better, esp fleeing city-dwellers.
- if any group members seem symptomatic, quarantine them. Even a cold that makes the rounds to everyone in the house can become more trouble than it’s worth.
