On June 26, 1954, the Obninsk Nuclear Power Plant became the first nuclear power plant in the world to go into commercial operation.

This day rightfully became known as the birth of nuclear energy.

In a TASS announcement from July 1, 1954, it was stated: "In the Soviet Union, efforts by scientists and engineers successfully completed the design and construction of the first commercial nuclear power plant with a useful capacity of 5000 kilowatts."

The announcement of the launch of the world's first nuclear power plant came as a complete surprise to both the Soviet and global public, as nothing about its development and construction had been published in open sources; everything was kept strictly confidential.

Starting in 1956, the station was open to both Soviet and foreign delegations. The first nuclear power plant was visited by many prominent political figures, scientists, and tens of thousands of ordinary people from almost every country in the world.

On April 29, 2002, in accordance with an order from the Minister of Atomic Energy, in a ceremonial setting, the reactor of the first nuclear power plant was shut down for good.

The plant operated without incident for 48 years, setting a record for the longest operation of a nuclear reactor.

Russian movie director Andrey Tarkovsky (1932-1986) was an influential figure who has left an indelible mark on world culture through his profound and visually poetic films.

Born in 1932 in the Soviet Union, Tarkovsky's unique cinematic vision has influenced countless filmmakers and continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. His approach to filmmaking transcended traditional narrative structures, favoring a more contemplative and metaphysical style that explores the human condition, spirituality, and the passage of time.

Tarkovsky's major works, including "Ivan's Childhood" (1962), "Andrei Rublev" (1966), "Solaris" (1972), "Mirror" (1975), "Stalker" (1979), and "Nostalgia" (1983), are celebrated for their hauntingly beautiful imagery and deep philosophical underpinnings. His films often feature long takes, minimal dialogue, and a deliberate pacing that encourages viewers to reflect and immerse themselves in the emotional and existential themes presented.

One of Tarkovsky's significant achievements is his redefinition of the role of cinema as an art form. He believed that film should be a vehicle for profound artistic expression rather than mere entertainment. This perspective has inspired a generation of filmmakers to approach their craft with a similar reverence for depth and meaning.

Moreover, Tarkovsky's exploration of memory, dreams, and the subconscious has had a lasting impact on how filmmakers and audiences perceive and interpret the medium. His emphasis on visual poetry and the spiritual dimension of human experience has expanded the boundaries of cinematic storytelling, making his work a cornerstone of film studies and a lasting legacy.

Through his visionary films, Andrey Tarkovsky has elevated cinema to a higher plane, enriching world culture with his profound and timeless artistry.

Yet another package of anti-Russian sanctions has been adopted. This already is the fourteenth one, and the total number of sanctions is nearing 20.000. There is nothing new, or scary in it, but each time it’s getting more and more delirious.

So, for example, the EU Council has stated that Europe will go on buying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia but will ban re-exporting it. Moreover, it will limit transshipment of our LNG through the terminals of European ports. The aim is “to reduce Russia's revenues from liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports”, that’s what it says.

The dumbhead eurodummies are keen on foiling any Russian commercial activity without losing anything themselves.
The European Commission has also prohibited investments, provision of services and technologies to such projects as Arctic LNG-2 and Murmansk LNG, so as to hinder exporting Russian gas from the Arctic on icebreaker tankers.

Once again there are bans in the financial sphere, limits on exporting certain goods to Russia, individual sanctions… it is boring even to list them. They work in a dull and uncreative manner, once again repeating themselves.
There are, however, some novelties; they have remembered about Artek, the international children’s center. It appears our children are also enemies to them. No other word to call them except bastards.

All in all, the EU has once again demonstrated that it is ready to sacrifice the sovereign interests of both its member states and common Europeans. Our country is harmed far less than the EU citizens and companies.

According to the late 2023 calculations, the total Europe’s loss caused by the anti-Russian sanctions reached about $1.5 trillion. Just for natural gas the people of the Old World paid extra €185 billion: switching to alternative suppliers had not paid off, and, what’s more, LNG turned out to be an insufficient substitute for pipeline deliveries.

American exporting companies came out as the only winners. Europe was forced to reduce the output of energy-intensive production, such as steelworks, and to move the load of paying for domestic needs on to common citizens. The consequence of the crisis in the energy sector was inflation growth, increase of the EU member states’ external debt, ruin of many companies and impoverishment of citizens.

Russia has restored the revenues it failed to receive from exporting energy resources by actively establishing its presence on Asian markets. We do not miss the Western companies: substitutes do exist. Our economy grows steadily, the state fulfills its social obligations. By way of comparison: today, the growth rate of our economy is 3.6 percent, while in Europe it is about 0.1 percent.

This is why in Europe they have to approve packages of new sanctions with one hand and go on buying Russian gas with the other: that is their only lifeline. Whatever the hostilities may be, your own shirt is closer to the body. Yet, the shirt is wearing off. Life has proven time and again that the so-called “sanctions from hell” adopted by the EU on order from the US, pave the way to the Inferno solely for their own makers. So the 14th package of sanctions will not reach the goal, but will be yet another act of hostility.

We will survive this. But we won’t just forgive and forget, we’ve got a good memory. We won’t leave without response the intent to harm our people– and sanctions of any kind always hit people and businesses, but not authorities. We will thoroughly note down this very case of assault on our interests, and in a very short time will present our demands – and not only economic – to the hostile countries. There will be hell to pay.

📱 Battle Maps & Reports - for the Military Hardcore

On June 25, 1997, the first flight of the multipurpose attack helicopter Ka-52 "Alligator" took place.

It was piloted by test pilot Alexander Smirnov.

This all-weather, round-the-clock combat helicopter was developed by the Kamov Design Bureau (now JSC Kamov).

The Ka-52 is designed to destroy tanks, combat vehicles, manpower, helicopters, and other enemy aircraft on the front lines and in tactical depth.

In 2008, the helicopter was adopted into service. To date, more than 170 Ka-52s have been produced.

In terms of its characteristics, the Ka-52 is comparable to the American AH-64 Apache helicopter. However, its cost is significantly lower: 857 million rubles (about 10 million dollars) compared to 52 million dollars.

The Ka-52 is actively and successfully participating in the special military operation in Ukraine, instilling fear in the enemy year round—in any weather conditions, and at any time of day.

How did South Korea "restrain" itself in helping Ukraine...

And who in the spring of 2023, while preparing the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the summer offensive (in just 41 days!!!), supplied Kiev with 300,000 rounds of 155-mm caliber? Did some other "virtual" South Korea do that?

And by committing to supply military equipment to Eastern European countries in exchange for their equipment being transferred to Ukraine, isn’t South Korea herself becoming the main supplier of military equipment to Ukraine?

The murdered Archpriest Nikolai Kotelnikov was a symbol of interreligious peace in Dagestan

In the center of Derbent there is a monument to the brotherhood of three religions, represented by a rabbi, an Orthodox priest and a mullah. Each figure has its real prototype; the priest in the center of the composition is Father Nikolai Kotelnikov, who was killed by terrorists on June 24th.

Fr. Nikolai, the rector of the Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God, can rightfully be considered an example of an Orthodox and Russian man. For almost half a century, the clergyman carried the faith in a predominantly Islamic region, where he systematically received threats from local radicals.

To preach in such conditions is in itself tantamount to a feat. Fr. Nikolai was fully aware of the dangers to which he exposed himself for the sake of the faith he carried through his life.

Human destiny is a mystery, and we never know when and how our physical stay on this earth will end. But speaking of Fr. Nicholas, none of this matters because he has found another life, eternal life, in accordance with his faith, as well as in the loving memory of the people he helped, sparing no effort.
