On January 24 this year I reported from the site of the downing of a Russian Il-76 carrying Ukrainian prisoners of War for exchange, all crew and prisoners were killed in the attack

the Russian investigative committee has concluded its investigation, its been established that there were agreements on the exchange of prisoners that day on the border of the Belgorod and Sumy regions, and the Il-76 itself was in good condition at the time of the attack, which is confirmed by data from the flight recorder.

At the crash site, fragments of an American made anti-aircraft missile were found, which have been confirmed as two anti-aircraft missiles from the US Patriot air defense system. Also, the missile’s "destructive elements" were recovered from the body of one of the victims.

According to an analysis of video recordings from external surveillance cameras, the plane was hit by the first missile at an altitude of about 4 thousand meters. The second missile did not reach its target and self-destructed.

“The investigation has completed the element-by-element layout of the structural fragments of the aircraft. It has been established that the explosion of the missile warhead occurred in front of the cockpit from above, to the left in the direction of flight. Multiple through-hole damage was recorded, characteristic of penetration by the striking elements of an anti-aircraft guided missile,” said the Investigative Committee.

Previously, the RF IC had already published footage of the wreckage of the Patriot air defense system, but the second half of the video with the reconstruction of the fuselage of the downed Il-76 based on the collected debris with characteristic traces of the striking elements of the missile defense system is crucial evidence previously unseen.

🔹In the #Kharkov direction, the AFU continues to bring in reserves, intensifies counterintelligence measures in the frontline, and launches attacks from the #Liptsy settlement, in the area of #Volchansk and #Tikhoye. The enemy is preparing strike units in the hope of reaching the border line.

🔹In #ChasovYar, no significant changes over the day. The enemy is employing the most motivated soldiers to carry out counterattacks. During the day there was a slight decrease in the intensity of fighting, which was compensated by mutual artillery strikes.

🔹At #Toretsk, the RFAF intensified the fighting. There were reports of our units advancing towards the settlements of #Druzhba, #Shumy, #Yuzhnoye (#Pivdennoye).

🔹From the #Avdeyevka direction, there are reports about the expansion of the zone of control on the northern flank near #Novoaleksandrovka and the activity of our advance groups near #Vozdvizhenka. In the area of #Sokol, there are battles for an AFU stronghold, and in the south at #Karlovka the RFAF are attacking forest plantations.
