The big announcements at The Gateway. There aren't any.
The first day of the annual TON conference has passed, and it is impossible to say that there were a lot of loud announcements.
Almost all announced goals and plans were announced last year, and the current conference looks like an intermediate point where the results of the past year are summarized and peak (this is important) achievements are shown.
According to the speech of Steve Yoon, President of TON Foundation, we can conclude that organizational and structural changes are coming. And according to the speech of CEO Andrey Rogozov - that Telegram is moving away from TON.
Last year Pavel Durov announced TON giveaways inside Telegram channels, but over time Premium and Stars giveaways appeared. TON wasn't needed for bots, payments, or giveaways, all replaced by Stars and attention to the TON ecosystem has greatly diminished. It looks like the reverse will never happen, everyone is happy with Stars.
Yesterday Rogozov announced NFT and token draws via @wallet. It would seem to be a TON of support from Telegram, but in reality the draws will just be held in the bot like checks in xRocket. No new ties to Telegram and no innovation, but just a new way for TOP to make money from regular users.
The estrangement is also visible in the fact that Rogozov, at the end of his speech, advised to subscribe to Durov, promising that he would make a post about @wallet and the new functionality, but Durov didn't publish anything. I previously wrote that the agreement to host @wallet was not renewed, and Durov only mentioned the wallet once. It's likely to stay that way and the situation will worsen.
Too bad about TON. No one seems to need it except naive funds investing tens of millions of dollars in the "void".
