A woman is on the run after allegedly stabbing to death her boyfriend, who is a student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Kitale.
The Sunday night incident happened in Kitale's Huruma area.
Preliminary reports, majorly from primary witnesses comprising of neighbours, say the fatal stabbing happened after the two got involved in a heated argument inside their house.
The deceased has been identified as Benedict Kiptoo, a 24-year-old who was a Clinical Medicine student at the college.
Benedict was found by his neighbours lying in a pool of blood inside his rented apartment with a deep stab in his chest. The suspect had already fled the scene. He unfortunately died while being rushed to a nearby hospital.
A kitchen knife has been retrieved from the scene, suspected to have been used in the attack.
Benedict's body has been taken to Cherengany Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations, as police launch a hunt for the woman, who neighbours say was living with the deceased.
Benedict's colleagues say he was (allegedly) set to graduate later this week.
