*we know that this is a "novel" virus however masks are a physical barrier against particles and the physical properties of airborne infections are not different in the way they travel in the environment. Therefore if face covering cannot reduce influenza virus infections it is unscientific to claim that it would reduce any other airborne respiratory virus infections. No studies exist supporting mask mandates besides some stats trickery and lab experiments which were not designed to answer the question about universal mask wearing.
