I believe it was Carl Schmitt or Oswald Spengler who once wrote about how communism and capitalism were two different sides of the same selfish coin. I would absolutely agree, as both sought to replace the prior European Catholic Guild System of old, that was build on love and charity.

Fun fact: Catholics were very well regarded in the South compared to the North and the Southern Bishops were some of the most holy and orthodox men in America. A substantial amount of them were ultramontanists and helped former slaves learn the Gospel and live as free men. The North had mostly former Know Nothing Anti Catholics and heterodox bishops like John Ireland, whereas many in the South were pro Catholic and had voted against the Know Nothings.

Today we remember the Confederates that gave their lives for the cause of self government and freedom. I honor all my kin who fought for a Christian South, including my ancestor Stonewall Jackson, and sought to establish a beautiful Southern Nation that maybe even would’ve been Catholic one day. The shame about Bishop Richard Williamson is that he really does say a lot of great things and is a wonderful speaker, but he isn’t reconciled with the Church. Lets pray that changes and he and his people may return to Rome.
