Where did the Solutreans come from? Another fascinating find was done by archeologist Dennis Stanford, who did an investigation on the Clovis arrowheads in the Americas. He found a striking similarity to the tools made by the Solutrean Neolithic (Stone Age) culture residing in southwest France. These findings all led to the significant question; were the first Americans European? From genetic and anthropological studies, the Solutreans are of European stock.
How did the Solutreans get here? It must be noted that thousands of years ago (specifically 10,000 to 30,000 BC) the ocean levels were much lower, and ice sheets connected the Americas to Europe. Although travel by foot is very probable, there are also some cave drawings done by the Solutreans that depict boat like structures. Indicating the Solutreans had at least some form of sea faring technology.
