OpenAI Introduces Canvas — a New Interface for Collaborative Text and Code Editing🕓 Currently in early beta, Canvas is available to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with Enterprise and Edu users getting access during the week of October 7–13, 2024. Once it's out of beta, it'll be available to all ChatGPT users.
#️⃣ Canvas opens in a separate window, letting you collaborate with ChatGPT side by side — not just through conversation, but by creating and refining ideas together. It's perfect for projects that require editing and revisions, something that's not always convenient in the regular chat interface.
#️⃣ With Canvas, you can highlight specific sections to show ChatGPT exactly what you want to focus on. It acts like a copy editor or code reviewer, providing inline feedback and suggestions. You have full control — you can directly edit text or code, and there's a handy menu of shortcuts to adjust writing length, debug code, change reading levels, and more. You can also undo changes using the back button.

✨ OpenAI has trained GPT 4o to be a creative partner in Canvas, understanding when to make targeted edits or fully rewrite content. While Canvas is still in early beta, OpenAI plans to rapidly enhance its features, rethinking how we interact with AI and making it even more useful for collaborative projects.
