I am looking for a movie to watch with my grandfather who I am visiting next week

He lives alone. So this is a very special occasion. He also loves ghosts and zombies. Is there a movie you would recommend?

Looking for a particular type of thriller movies.

Hey All! I am looking for a particular type of thriller movies to watch over the weekend. These movies can be older or recent ones. I am looking for thriller movies with multiple disjointed characters having their own arcs but which converges later into a single plot line or some event which brings these characters together.

These can also include some "Rashomon" type elements like a crime/event witnessed by multiple people who have conflicting versions about how it happened.

Example:

Smokin Aces (2006)

Basic (2003)

Knives Out (2019)

Thanks!

Movies about loneliness, or navigating the world as a loner/social outcast?

Preferably not high school/college stuff, but also ok if it is. I just want a dialogue on loneliness/isolation and a perspective on humanity from the outside, however it may be. Open to documentaries but looking more for fiction.

Watched Searching on Netflix and I was thoroughly impressed!

I really love thrillers and movies with people being in desperate situations and I stumbled upon this movie on Netflix. I thought I'd give it a go and if ever it feels like another cheap and cheesy movie, I'd skip it. But holy cow was it good!! It's been a while since I sat at the edge of my seat and sweat as the plot thickens. It's totally suggest this movie!

Movies like Ladybird, Booksmart, Adventureland, Edge of Seventeen, Eighth Grade, and Blockers.

I guess I am looking for good teen/college coming of age stories.

Preferably released after 2010 but don't mind hidden gems from before.

Looking for amazing horror/thriller movies from the past 20 years

As a reference I just saw Funny Games (2007) a couple of days ago and loved how off putting, skin crawling my creepy it was (I have seen the Strangers also, as a side note) Any great horror/suspense I’m there for tho I do prefer movies that keep you on your toes over your usual predictive horror (tho I still enjoy those also from time to time)

Edit: some other movies, to add variety, that I love are: The Ritual, The Invitation, Hereditary(and Midsommar), Creep, and Halloween

Suggest me something different

After watching shit ton of movies.. I'm kinda bored with our typical action/sci-fi/romcom/feelgood/comedies and want to watch something related it the old west or mafia or those typical de niro and al pacino movies.
I have no idea as i haven't watched many movies of that kind but I'm looking for movies that are sort of "taxi driver" or "Django unchained"

Movies like Bergman's 'Summer with Monika' who follow the trajectory of a young girl

I recently watched Summer with Monika and Summer Interlude, both by Bergman and fell in love. I want movies with a young adult woman (15-26yo) and good drama (and even romance). a plus+ if it is a film made before the 1970s and non-english, but no restrictions!

In search of great Surround Sound movies

I just bought a 7.1 receiver and made a 6.1 surround system, so i'm looking for movies that take advantage of it, and also movies with big "Bass Scenes" like the Blackhole on interstellar or something like, since it's my first subwoofer I want to know it's limits too

Movies with destruction or disasters

Hi everyone. I just watched Final Destination 5 and I absolutely loved the bridge scene. I also enjoyed the bridge scene in X-men 3 and Harry Potter 6 (albeit this one was short).

I’m looking for movies with disaster or destruction like these I just mentioned and movies like Cloverfield, San Andreas, The Day after Tomorrow or even Deep blue sea.
Give me good ones please! Thank you guys

A nice and cozy movie that would fit the atmosphere of Beth Gibbons' song "Mysteries"?

Hi!

I know the song appears in the soundtrack of a couple of movies (the ones I've already seen are "Palermo Shooting" and "Russian Dolls"), so I'm not necessarily looking for movies that use the song, but rather for movies with a warm and cozy vibe similar to the song :)

Here's the song in case you don't know it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H9HKDQhHDM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H9HKDQhHDM)

THANKS!!

A movie that makes me cry but that’s also spectacular

Something like The Danish Girl, Whiplash or Boyhood, or Les Miserables. I’m not sure what I want tonight, I’m up for anything really! Thanks in advance.

What’s your biggest ‘hot take’ on a movie?

What’s a movie that either:
A) Everyone raves about but you hated
B) Everyone hates but you love

Always looking for controversial opinions to add to my need to watch lists!

Horror movie without jump scares

I think jump scares ruin the movie even though they startle people..I recently saw a movie svaha:the sixth finger.. though the ending was a bit weird..the movie was brilliant.. folklore..cults..psychological thriller,, detective work, very few and we'll placed paranormal scares that you were invested in..I thoroughly enjoyed it..if you guy know more of such films.. please do recommend..I also like the witch, hereditary, two sisters.. didn't like midsommar..a horror with an actual plot and other elements..not just being scary for the sake of being scary
