Rites of Pestilence:
One of my most anticipated albums for along time, finally unveiled.
Beautifully following up to Cold Gate's debut EP, released in 2021, which was a breath of fresh air in that year, both sonically as aesthetically, "Anhedonia" seems to be a great further exploration of the style and techniques of that same release.
Mixing depressive Black Metal that could be inspired by the likes of Lurker of Chalice, Xasthur, early Laster, etc, with elements of Shoegaze and other experimentations, such as the somewhat glitchy looped parts that were already present on the EP or the BBH-ish, cold, plaintive guitar only outros to some songs, and an astonishing, dreamy layering of guitar parts, this Russian artist creates another incredibly solid and very cohesive release of despondent experimentalism.
