(In his photograph taken between 1933-34, Hintersatz is seen wearing the Ottoman "Miralay" uniform, with the Ottoman 2nd Class Majidi and Finnish White Rose insignia on his collar, and with the medals he won in World War I on his chest. He served with the rank of captain in the Ottoman Empire. The fact that Hintersatz was photographed wearing the "Miralay" uniform suggests the possibility that he was sent as an adviser to the Turkish army by the German government at that time, unless it was for show.)
