Odysee: Fiction doesn't care about your facts - Or, non-fiction is a fiction
Claire Khaw and I both enjoy at least one common science fiction series. Otherwise, when or if she gets a chance to read, she prefers non-fiction. I like both but fiction, especially science and speculative fictions really trip my fancy. Likely, it is because they predict the future, or are directing it, and help give away the game, or help people prepare for what is coming. Otherwise, the fantastic element of the God in the Machine that works miracles and magic through science and requires devotion the way a religious person reveres his god or Gods.
But the second reason I like fiction is that it lies a lot less. It doesn't pretend to fact or truth and its highest goal is what ours should be: narrative.
