Lovely to see so many people for our Pentecost service and for the platinum jubilee picnic party afterwards. And it stayed dry!

CONFIRMATION GROUP
Our confirmation group will meet at about 1:30 - 1:45pm tomorrow, after people have been able to have some time at the picnic.
We are hoping that Bishop Robert will be able to visit us in Moscow in early July, and we plan to have a confirmation service in St Andrew's on Tuesday 5th July at 7:30pm
If you would like to consider confirmation, please speak to the chaplain after the service tomorrow.

We were visited today by some members of Club 59. It is an international motorcycle club initially founded as a church based youth club in East London in 1959 by Rev Bill Shergold. In Russia it still keeps its links with the Church, and it’s organiser is Fr Sergei Labinsky.

Over the next 9 days, in between Ascension and Pentecost, we are invited to participate in a prayer initiative called Thy Kingdom Come. In particular we are invited to pray for 5 people who we long would come to know the love of the Lord Jesus. Here is a link to todays reflections.

I love this icon of the Ascension. Notice the contrast between the confusion of the disciples, and the peace of Mary, who stands as a representative of the whole faithful people of God. In some icons of the Ascension she is praying (as here); in others she is witnessing. While those of us in leadership are often like the apostles here, in confusion, not sure which way to look, the Church of God, the people of God, trusting in our ascended Lord Jesus, can be faithful in our prayer and witness.
