🤝 Apple and OpenAI partnership worries Microsoft

The deal between OpenAI and Apple, which will be announced at WWDC, ‘scared’ Microsoft.

Once the new AI features are integrated into iOS 18, which will be powered by OpenAI technologies, a large number of servers will be needed to keep them running smoothly. ChatGPT and other OpenAI products run on Microsoft's servers, so it is now puzzled about how to meet the growing demand for servers in the future.

In addition, OpenAI's partnership with Apple will mean competition with Copilot, Microsoft's own chatbot, which is based on OpenAI's technology. But from a financial point of view, Microsoft is likely to get more money from the Apple and OpenAI deal.

Over the weekend, X added clauses to its rules, formally allowing users to post adult and graphic content on the platform — with a few caveats.

Users can now post consensually-produced NSFW content as long as it is prominently labeled as such. The new rules also cover AI-generated videos and images.

The tweak to the rules is not a complete surprise, since X, under Elon Musk, has already experimented with formally hosting adult content with NSFW communities.

X has never really banned porn, but these clauses could let it build services around adult content — think creating an OnlyFans competitor to bolster its revenues.

According to analyst Mark Gurman, Apple software chief Craig Federighi has tasked engineers with developing as many new AI chips for iOS 18 as possible, which will include the ability to control apps via Siri.

The new feature will work system-wide, but initially only in Apple's own apps. The company will also provide APIs to developers to implement the feature in third-party apps.

The release of the innovation should be expected no earlier than 2025. Nevertheless, the feature will probably be announced as early as 10 June during WWDC 24.

OpenAI has created a Safety Committee. This committee is responsible for making recommendations on critical AI Safety decisions for all OpenAI projects.

The most important part of the announcement:
"OpenAI has recently begun training its next frontier model..."

The second key part: the committee is expected to provide its recommendations within 90 days, after which the board of directors will review them. Following this, the recommendations will be made public.

According to rumors, the announcement of the new model is scheduled for November 2024.
