Gazprom, once #Russia’s most profitable company, has dropped out of Forbes Russia's 2024 top 100 list, the business magazine wrote Friday.

“Last year’s leader Gazprom fell off the list with a record loss of 583 billion rubles [$6.3 billion] in 2023,” Forbes Russia wrote. However, it noted that the record loss was “more on paper,” as Gazprom’s cash flow remained stable at 2.3 trillion rubles ($24.6 billion).

#Finland will place a key #NATO base less than 200 kilometers (125 miles) from its eastern border with Russia, a move that Helsinki says will "send a message" to Moscow, the Finnish Defense Ministry said Friday.

Finland, which shares a 1,340-kilometer (830-mile) border with #Russia, became a NATO member last year, dropping decades of military non-alignment after Moscow's full-scale invasion of #Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he decided to meet with Donald Trump on Friday because it was “very important” to keep the United States (#USA) informed about next steps in Ukraine.

Zelensky said he hoped the support of the United States would be very strong regardless of who wins the election.

“And that’s why I decided to meet with most candidates, with all of them,” he said.


Trump suggested he would try to broker an end to the war between #Russia and #Ukraine.

More than 10 million Sudanese, representing 20% of the country's population, have been displaced since the outbreak of the civil war.

This statistic highlights the worsening displacement crisis in #Sudan, which has become the largest of its kind in the world.

The conflict, which began in April 2023, has left half of Sudan’s 50 million citizens facing a severe hunger crisis and in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.

Over 2.2 million people have fled to neighboring countries, while nearly 7.8 million have sought refuge within Sudan.

Prior to this conflict, an additional 2.8 million individuals had already been displaced due to earlier unrest.

This ongoing crisis has dramatically escalated the number of those displaced, further straining the region’s resources and support systems.

- NEWS - The Sudanese Armed Forces, SAF, have reportedly advanced into the central of #Sudan's capital, Khartoum, from two directions.

In the north, the SAF have crossed the Shambat Bridge into the al-Sababi district. SAF posted footage which was geolocated to Azhari Road, at 15.64179, 32.51896.

The purpose of this offensive is likely to breach the encirclement of SAF in the al-Waburat district.

In the south, the SAF crossed the Blue Nile Bridge. Geolocated footage shows SAF at 15.60303, 32.51335, on al-Gamhuriya Avenue. The advance, therefore, confirms SAF control over the National Museum and, more importantly, over the Tuti Bridge opposite the museum.

Rapid Support Forces (#RSF) on the Tuti Island have been completely cut off as the only access to the island is via the bridge. To the east of the museum, fighting is still ongoing at al-Neelain University.
