🇳🇮— The Nicaraguan Parliament, controlled by the Sandinista Front, has approved a constitutional reform that expands the absolute power of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.

💥 Key changes include:

➡️ Extending the presidential term to six years.

➡️ Establishing the positions of "co-president" and "co-presidentess" with powers assigned without popular vote.

➡️ Total control of the media and restrictions on its independence.

➡️ Elimination of the separation of powers, placing the Executive at the head of all state institutions.

⚠️ The opposition and international organizations have condemned this reform as a blatant attempt to perpetuate Ortega and Murillo in power, erasing any remnants of democracy in the country.

🇧🇷⚖️👮⛓📱 — For the first time in history, someone has been indicted for attempting a coup d'état in Brazil merely for hosting livestreams on YouTube

💥 Journalist and entrepreneur Paulo Figueiredo Filho, grandson of former President João Baptista Figueiredo, reacted to his indictment by the Federal Police in an investigation into an alleged coup attempt in 2022.

🇺🇸 Figueiredo, who has lived in the United States for nearly a decade, stated that he was never in Brazil during the year in question and described the accusations as part of a "campaign of intimidation."

"I make it clear: I will not respond to intimidation, nor will I retreat in exercising my God-given freedoms. I am fully confident that the United States, under a new administration that values freedom, will address these events with the seriousness they deserve."

📝 In a statement, Figueiredo asserted that his only "criminal conduct" was accurately reporting, from the United States, events related to the Brazilian Army's high command. He also accused Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes of leading a "dictatorial escalation" in Brazil and reiterated that he would not back down from exercising his freedoms.

🇨🇳 Figueiredo emphasized that, in his view, the indictment reflects an effort to silence him, as he actively works in the United States to expose what he called Brazil's "alignment with China." The journalist expressed his confidence that the United States, under a new administration, will acknowledge the severity of the situation in Brazil.

🇧🇷🏳🤝🇧🇷 — Tarcísio de Freitas, governor of São Paulo (SP), Brazil's most important state, has come to the defense of former President Jair Bolsonaro, stating that the investigation against him is a "narrative" and "lacks evidence":

"There is a narrative being spread against President Jair Bolsonaro that lacks evidence. It is crucial to be very responsible when dealing with serious accusations like this.

The president respected the election results, and the inauguration took place in full normalcy and respect for democracy. The ongoing investigation should be conducted in a way that brings the truth of the facts to light."

🇨🇺💥 — José Daniel Ferrer, Cuban opposition leader, was brutally beaten by guards in Mar Verde prison, Santiago de Cuba. Following the assault, he was urgently transferred to the prison hospital in critical condition

➡️ The Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) and other organizations are denouncing systematic torture and inhumane conditions endured by Ferrer, who has been arbitrarily detained for years. They are demanding his immediate release and sanctions against the Cuban regime.

📝 See the full statement below:

Condemnation of the Cuban State for Violence Against José Daniel Ferrer and Demand for His Immediate Release

The Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) firmly and strongly condemns the brutal aggression suffered by José Daniel Ferrer, UNPACU's general coordinator and president of the Council for Democratic Transition in Cuba (CTDC), at the hands of guards in Mar Verde prison, Santiago de Cuba. After the beating, Ferrer had to be urgently transferred to the prison hospital, reflecting the critical condition to which he has been subjected.

The Cuban regime continues to hold Ferrer in inhumane conditions, isolating him and denying communication with his family in a clear attempt to undermine his physical and mental health. This situation, which has persisted for nearly four years, constitutes systematic torture and a flagrant violation of the most basic human rights. Ferrer was supposed to be released on April 1, but the Cuban State has failed to comply, defying international laws and perpetuating his unjust detention.

UNPACU denounces this act of violence, which once again highlights the subhuman conditions and cruel treatment faced by political prisoners in Cuba. Nothing in prison regulations justifies the use of force, physical or psychological torture, or the constant humiliation imposed on individuals like José Daniel Ferrer, who defend their rights and those of their people.

We urge international organizations such as the International Criminal Court, the United Nations Human Rights Council, the OAS, and the European Parliament to condemn these actions and impose immediate sanctions on those responsible for these abuses. Silence only serves to strengthen the Cuban regime's oppression, led by Miguel Díaz-Canel and Raúl Castro, who must be held accountable for these acts.

We make an urgent appeal to democratic nations worldwide to act decisively. José Daniel Ferrer's life is in grave danger, as are the rights and freedoms of all Cubans fighting for change. The international community cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of the Cuban people.

Finally, we call on the Cuban people not to give up and to continue demanding their freedom in the streets, as other nations have done in the face of oppressive regimes. No wall can withstand the cry of a united people. It is time to defend human dignity, freedom, and the rights of the Cuban people with courage and determination.

🇺🇸🇺🇸❌ 🇻🇪🇻🇪— According to The Washington Post, Nicolás Maduro has sent emissaries to negotiate with Donald Trump's team, proposing to accept deported illegal migrants in exchange for sanctions relief. However, a Trump associate stated that the offer holds no interest, making it clear that the president-elect's priority is that "Maduro must leave power"

⚡️ Despite pressure from oil executives warning about the risk of losing Venezuela to China and Iran, Trump remains firm in his stance: he will not rely on Venezuela and will seek U.S. energy self-sufficiency.

🛫 Regarding migration, Trump will not relent: he plans to seal the border, regardless of international pressure or the Venezuelan exodus. Faced with an ultimatum, Maduro must decide whether to accept the deportees or face "unimaginable consequences."

🇧🇷🇧🇷❌⚖️👮 — Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro spoke publicly after being indicted by the Federal Police (PF) for alleged involvement in a plan to overthrow the government following Lula's victory in 2022. See all the details below:

➡️ "Minister Alexandre de Moraes conducts the entire inquiry, adjusts testimonies, arrests without charges, engages in fishing expeditions for evidence, and has a very creative team. He does everything the law does not permit," Bolsonaro criticized.

➡️ "We need to see what's in this PF indictment. I'll wait for my lawyer. This will obviously go to the Prosecutor General's Office. That's where the battle begins. I can't expect anything from a team that uses creativity to accuse me," the former president concluded.

➡️ Jair Bolsonaro and 36 others were indicted by the Federal Police on Thursday (11/21) for alleged involvement in planning a coup d'état. On Wednesday, the PF conducted an operation that arrested six military personnel accused of plotting to assassinate President Lula and Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

➡️ The PF revealed that one soldier approached the vicinity of Moraes' residence with the intent of arresting the magistrate.

➡️ Bolsonaro's reference to the term "creativity" alludes to a message from Airton Vieira, an advisor to Moraes' office, to Eduardo Tagliaferro, the then head of the Special Advisory Office for Combating Disinformation at the Superior Electoral Court.

➡️ "Use your creativity lol," Vieira wrote in response to Tagliaferro's concerns about the difficulty of formalizing a complaint against Revista Oeste.

🇹🇼💥🇧🇷🇨🇳 — Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has sparked a new diplomatic crisis with Taiwan by declaring support for the "One China" policy during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit. This stance is rejected by Taiwan's representatives as it undermines the archipelago's independence, contested by China's government, which aims to annex it

💬 Benito Liao, head of Taiwan's Representative Office in Brazil, has requested clarification, calling Brazil's position a "legal and historical mistake." Tensions between the two nations have been strained since January, when Brazil's Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, signaled support for the "One China" policy.

"Claiming that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China does not reflect historical and legal reality. The Republic of China (Taiwan) was established in 1911, long before the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. Since then, the PRC government has not exercised a single day of sovereignty over Taiwan. This is an undeniable truth!" stated Liao.

💸 The representative argued that Lula's diplomatic stance hampers economic ties between Brazil and Taiwan.

"This explains why bilateral trade between Taiwan and Brazil remains around just $5 billion. Despite Taiwan having the world's most advanced technology in semiconductor chip manufacturing, the main reason for the lack of progress in bilateral cooperation lies in the absence of open dialogue and formal mechanisms to fully explore the potential of this partnership."

🌍 Liao concluded by respecting Brazil's diplomatic and economic ties with China while urging a more flexible approach. "Taiwan is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, but we cannot accept having our existence denied or distorted by political narratives disconnected from reality."
