And this inward beauty is what Allaah looks at
Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
"Beauty is divided into two types: outward and inward.
The inward beauty is to love for its own sake, and it is the beauty of knowledge, intelligence, generosity, chastity, and courage.
And this inward beauty is what Allaah looks at in His servant, and it is the place of His love, as in the authentic hadith:
That Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allaah صل الله عليه وسلم said:
" إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى صُوَرِكُمْ وَأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَأَعْمَالِكُمْ "
'Allaah does not look at your appearances or your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your actions.'
_
Muslim 2564
This inward beauty embellishes the outward appearance, even if it is not that that possess (outward) beauty.
It adorns its owner with beauty, majesty, and sweetness according to the qualities they have acquired; for the believer is given dignity and sweetness according to their Eemaan.
Whoever sees them will respect them, and whoever associates with them will love them.
This is a well-known fact; you see the righteous person with beautiful character as one of the most beautiful people in appearance, even if they are black or not physically beautiful. Especially if they are given a portion of night prayer, it illuminates their face and makes it beautiful.
As for outward beauty, it is an ornament that Allaah has bestowed upon some forms over others, and it is from the increased creation that Allaah said about:
يَزِيدُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ مَا يَشَآءُۚ
He increases in creation what He wills.

Faatir 35:1
They said it is the beautiful voice, the beautiful appearance, and the hearts that are printed with His love, just as they are engraved with His excellence.
It has been established in the authentic hadith that Abdullaah Ibnu Mas'uud رضي الله عنه reported the Messenger of Allaah صل الله عليه وسلم said:
لا يدخل الجنة من كان في قلبه مثقال ذرة من كبر فقال رجل” إن الرجل يحب أن يكون ثوبه حسناً ونعله حسناً؟ قال: “إن الله جميل يحب الجمال الكبر بطر الحق وغمط الناس
'Whoever has an atom's weight of arrogance in their heart will not enter Paradise.
'They said: 'O Messenger of Allaah, what if a man likes his shoe to be beautiful and his garment to be beautiful, is that arrogance?'
He said: 'No, Allaah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is rejecting the truth and belittling people.'"

Muslim 91
