"Do not wish that all things will go well with you, but that you will go well with all things."
- Epictetus The Manual
The Gods give us hardship not so that we may fail, but so that we may become stronger and improve for the sake of the whole. When we see the world as owing us we are weak. When we see ourselves as owing the world we are made strong. Nothing can stop us when we respect Will and Sige ("glorious victory") as some of the highest things to cultivate.
We also must consider this: we only have power over ourselves. Our thoughts, our actions, ourselves. Not that guy, or that dog, or the weather or anything like that. Focus on what you have control over and use your power wisely for the sake of performing your duty and maintaining the peace to do so.
