Massive explosions near Severomorsk
There is no information made public that can tell what exploded inside the military boundaries south of the headquarters of Russia's Northern Fleet.

A video recording was posted Wednesday evening on social media in Murmansk of what appears to be a massive explosion in the horizon. The Barents Observer has geolocated the filming position from Skalnaya street No. 9, which is on the top of the hill in Oktyabrskiy District. The explosion, which lasts only a few seconds, can be seen in a distance of several kilometers to the north.
Here are dozens of military objects, including the Severomorsk-1 naval airbase and weapons' storages and bunkers.
Severomorsk-1 is 13 km from the location of the video-recording. The airbase is the second largest on the Kola Peninsula and accommodates both fighter jets, bombers and maritime surveillance aircraft. A squadron of Ka-27 helicopters is also located at the airfield.

Russian leader, making annual end-of-year address, suggests ‘experiment’ involving his Oreshnik system and US weapons.

We have some more comments made by Putin at the press conference. According to Reuters, he suggested a missile “duel” with the US that would show how Russia’s new Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile could defeat any American missile defence system. Putin has used the missile, which has nuclear capabilities, as a way of raising the stakes and threatening the west.
Addressing western scepticism about the Oreshnik, the Russian president suggested that both sides select a designated target to be protected by US missiles. “We’re ready for such an experiment,” Putin was quoted as saying.
Russia first fired the Oreshnik missile at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on 21 November.

Zelenskyy says he discussed French troop idea with Macron

Ukraine president said work continued on proposal to put European forces on the ground; Nato chief Mark Rutte warns European leaders not to pre-empt peace process.

“We share a common vision: reliable guarantees are essential for a peace that can truly be achieved,” said Ukraine’s president, who was in Brussels on Wednesday for meetings with Nato’s chief and European leaders. “We continued working on President Macron’s initiative regarding the presence of forces in Ukraine that could contribute to stabilising the path to peace.” Macron’s office said France was making reinforced support for Ukraine its “absolute priority” and would continue giving Ukraine “the means to defend itself and to make Russia’s war of aggression fail”. Macron would maintain a “tight dialogue with Ukraine and its international partners to work for a return to a fair and lasting peace”.

45 ENEMY UAVS SHOT, ANOTHER 40 FAILED TO REACH THEIR TARGETS

On the night of December 19, 2024 (from 20:00 on December 18), the enemy struck with 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, a Kh-59/69 guided aircraft missile, and 85 Shahed and other types of attack UAVs.

As of 08:30, it was confirmed that 45 attack UAVs had been shot down, 40 enemy decoy UAVs were lost in location (without negative consequences).

As a result of the missile strike, private, apartment buildings, and municipal property in Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions were damaged. No victims or casualties were reported. No UAV hits were recorded, and no information was received about damage or casualties
