💎 Wallet is gone from Telegram

The old Wallet tab disappeared from Telegram settings. The same wallet that had been sitting inside the app since the 2023 Telegram x TON Foundation partnership is no longer the default wallet slot.

TOP has now renamed the old Wallet into Walt, while the @wallet position is moving toward Telegram’s new Gram Wallet.

🔝 What changed

⚫️ The Wallet tab disappeared from Telegram settings
⚫️ The old Wallet service is now called Walt
⚫️ Walt is available through @walt
⚫️ The @wallet username still works, but the main Telegram wallet slot is being cleared
⚫️ According to TOP, user balances, accounts and history remain unchanged
⚫️ The old custodial Wallet is no longer the wallet Telegram wants sitting in the main interface

🔝 Why it matters

⚫️ This is the cleanest sign yet that Gram Wallet is replacing the old Wallet inside Telegram
⚫️ TOP keeps the existing crypto product under the Walt brand
⚫️ Telegram gets the @wallet route and the settings slot for its own native wallet
⚫️ For users, this may look like a simple rename
⚫️ For TON, it looks more like a handover of the most important real estate inside Telegram

For two years, Wallet was the crypto button inside Telegram. Now it has been moved to Walt, while Gram Wallet takes the front seat.

Not a rebrand. More like Telegram quietly taking the keys back.
