In case you didn't realize this, cities may seem like they cover a ton of the earth but the realities is that they're little bubbles. Their influence spreads far but you will probably have to practice bushcraft and trailcraft hiking just outside or even inside various areas of local cities. Might as well get used to it. No civilization lasts.

Personal development ought never to end. I'm not going to lie, if you're neglecting any of these three components then you're really missing out on being a man, a functioning adult in general, and you need to catch up. You shouldn't go through this life unhealthy, ignorant, or spiritually decrepit. You're not prepared for SHTF, you're not prepared for even the basic adversities in life, and you owe it to yourself and others to be better. I say this because I care. If I didn't care about you, I wouldn't say anything. I'd let you believe that inactivity and malnutrition wouldn't kill you. I wouldn't say anything as you talked and acted aimlessly and without knowledge. I wouldn't say anything while you, like massive amounts of people, neglected a very real portion of your life (the spiritual portion) that will fundamentally shape how you exist internally and with your fellow man. I would pretend for you that you don't have a relationship with God. But I am not ashamed to say that none of those things are true, and I encourage you to do better because I care.

It's kinda important to be able to move effectively in kit and perform manual labor if you have any plan of being able to use it in a realistic manor.

Rifle consideration - "Equipment is purpose driven" is a fact often quoted but seldom practiced. Much of the tactical equipment and duty/service firearms popular in America (example: the M4/AR-15 in the modern configuration) are popular because of their effectiveness in the Middle Eastern theater. They perform well as a general purpose carbine, especially so in an open arid environment and arid suburban areas. Light, flat shooting projectiles perform fairly well in open areas at distances. You have to ask, however, whether that principle ought to be applied in much of the American wilderness. A large amount of the American wild is dense woodland, with thick bush that can deflect smaller bullets from their flat trajectory. The heavier battle rifles such as AR-10's, FAL's, HK-91's, and even AKM's are considered to be a cool collector's item but not an applicable choice for a duty rifle. The reality is that depending on where you live, it may be the other way around. The heavier .308/7.62x51 and 7.62x39 battle rifle rounds more effectively chop through dense vegetation and brush of forests and jungles. I personally own battle rifles as well as carbines in 5.45x39 and 5.56x45. I collect weaponry but keep in mind the purpose, especially if I'll be spending time in a particular environment. This principle goes for all your equipment. There is a certain quality to being able to perform well in a general circumstance, but you should not base the entirety of your loadout on that. When you utilize "all around gear" in an incompatible environment, you very well might find that gear to be good for nothing in particular.

I completely understand the desire to reduce the likelihood that people will destroy everything our ancestors worked for. But with that being said, a compliant society is not necessarily a moral one. While there very well may be some moral people in a authoritatively-ruled society, the populace you seek to control will not be. It will fall. Maybe not today, but one day it will. The mission should be to make moral men and women, not compliant ones. It is involves teaching, leading by exemplification, genuine relationship, and letting our light shine in the darkness. The issue is that this is incredibly hard to do, especially in a society such as ours where degeneracy and governmental dependency have reigned supreme for generations. But no good effort is ever an easy one. We ought to strive our hardest to make righteous individuals out of our countrymen.
