🗓 Week ahead: five dates the market prepares for in advance
The dates come from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics release calendar and the Fed meeting schedule:
• 7 September — Labor Day, US markets closed
• 10 September, 12:30 UTC — producer price index for August
• 11 September, 12:30 UTC — consumer price index for August
• 15–16 September — rate meeting, with updated projections
• 16 September, 12:30 UTC — import and export prices for August
The order matters more than the numbers themselves: August inflation lands two working days before the meeting. The rate decision is taken with that print in hand, and the market gets two days to reset expectations. The September meeting also stands apart: it is one of the four a year that come with refreshed projections for rates, inflation and unemployment — and those are usually what reprices risk.
