Note: Do not disable the entire firewall, ever. I don't know why he even suggests doing that.

Gab PROACTIVELY reports you to the DOJ and DHS.

This might even be worse than Twitter who was used by the Taliban, ISIS, and other militant Islamic groups for years.

Deleted post and re-uploaded as that was a leftist channel I forwarded from originally.

Still working on a bigger post. Just wanted to say a couple of things:
-Using Linux is mandatory for having any kind of realistic privacy with technology. It has a steep learning curve, but once you're used to the way things work just about every task becomes simpler. Additionally, some of the things you need to do to run your own servers securely is objectively harder to do on windows. Learning and using Linux is the first step in unplugging yourself from the beast's network.
-If you aren't willing to risk screwing up your own data on a computer that already has windows on it, and don't want or can't afford to get a second computer to play around with (which I recommend highly) then maybe look into getting an SBC(single board computer) such as the raspberry pi. They're inexpensive, small, and low powered hobbyist computers that you can get for as low as $40. They can run nearly full featured variants of Linux that will have the same utilities as a full Linux desktop or server.

Linux mint is probably the easiest distribution to start with.

And as far as specific guides go, each of you should go ahead and go through the following "course" on landchad.net. The colors are kind of horrible but the information is good. I'll post some videos about getting started with Linux after this, if you aren't familiar with it. Linux is critical to doing anything with servers, and comes with far less (if any) system spyware as a bonus.

Note: Do not disable the entire firewall, ever. I don't know why he even suggests doing that.

Keep in mind "specific guides" will still be fairly high level, as many other people have written more thorough documentation for various applications than I could.

Which format would you prefer I (generally) use?
Опрос
  •   Guides to achieving specific things, like hosting your own email, from start to finish
  •   Longer articles about ways by which you can start hosting your own services, without explicit steps
  •   Longer articles but broken up into smaller posts and posted over longer periods of time

Welcome to all the new subscribers. I'm still working on the next post, but I'd like to see what you all expect in terms of format.

In the mean time, read this (to the end)

The next big post was originally going to be about jellyfin (a fully open source alternative to Plex, Kodi, etc), which is a self hosted media server that you can use to essentially replace netflix, Spotify, and similar services, all using your own media files, but as I started working on it I realised there's probably a lot of background knowledge I take for granted. So the next post will be a sort of overview of information from previously posted sources as well as more general technical information on how the internet works and how you can better use it.
