Let me explain to you what I know, what I searched for information about, looked through and tried to remember for a long time from memory.
Zoran, as I already said, is a child born after the end of the world, because of a mutation, the group in which he and his parents were driven him out because he allegedly corrupts their pure people. The mother, unable to leave her son alone, helped him and left him her old home. The boy has facial deformities and a deformed hand, which often leaves others horrified and afraid when they discover him. They think he's a monster, but he's not. He's kind and very compassionate, trying to help and care for others if they need support. He's sociable and, frankly, sweet. It's not his fault that he was born like this.
According to my idea, as in the film "the 100" a group of people came from a calmer future to rescue the survivors and perhaps save the Earth. They were able to find the boy and transport him to a more comfortable time. But where? Namely, to the time where Lucas and his father lived. The sympathetic heroes would have asked to shelter Zoran for a while, where Lucas, out of interest, would have gotten to know him and started communicating.
At one point, either by chance or perhaps due to Lucas’s own interest, while his father was not at home, he asked Zoran to tell him about himself and then asked the question of why he was hiding his face and Why is it generally hidden behind layers of clothing. Then, through embarrassment and fear that his appearance will frighten his only friend, Zoran will still show his true self, to which Lucas, seeing his fear, will recognize the extraordinary beauty in him and will try convey this to the older one, he will study drawing even harder so that one day he can draw Zoran as he was in the eyes of the younger one, to show that despite the seemingly unusual features he is not ugly, but beautiful in his own way.
