🇨🇦 Ontario is taking four reactors offline for a decade while demand keeps exploding
Four Pickering reactors are being taken offline for about 10 years starting in January, as reported. That is the kind of planning genius you get from a country that spent years worshipping net-zero slogans while importing millions of extra consumers, straining housing, roads, hospitals and now the grid. We are told this is all orderly and responsible. Sure. Nothing says competent energy policy like shrinking reliable baseload power while politicians sermonize about electrification.
The real scandal is broader than Pickering. Canada has uranium, engineers, space and every reason to build an energy fortress. Instead, the ruling class manages decline with glossy buzzwords, endless refurbishment timelines and a permanent dependency mindset. Ottawa and Queen’s Park love talking resilience, but their version means ordinary people paying more for less while bureaucrats cosplay as climate saviours. A sovereign country expands cheap, stable power before it inflates population and mandates electric everything. This one does press releases first and infrastructure later.
