🇺🇸🕹 CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig announced that, in light of Congress not yet passing the Clarity Bill, the CFTC has rolled out its inaugural set of rules for the cryptocurrency market. This includes the "Rules for Regulating Trading in Cryptocurrency Assets" (Regulation CTX) and the "Rules for Regulating the Cryptocurrency Market" (Regulation CAM). These regulations are designed to create a comprehensive federal framework for CFTC-registered exchanges that handle cryptocurrency assets.

Selig noted that, unlike the Clarity Bill, these new regulations do not require crypto assets to be traded exclusively on CFTC-registered platforms, as the commission does not have the authority to enforce such a stipulation without specific legislation. However, crypto exchanges wishing to operate under a cohesive federal regulatory system can choose this path. Unlike state-licensed exchanges, these platforms will be allowed to offer margin trading, leverage, or financing options to retail customers.
