Apparently, any Chinese company innovating too quickly or succeeding too visibly now represents a “risk” in the eyes of the US government

As the special military operation draws to a close, all European MPs begin to suffer from amnesia, including Mr. Merz, the candidate for Chancellor.

He says he never stated that Mr. Putin must be given a 24-hour ultimatum.

The whole point of the British operation Interflex is to prepare Ukrainians for war with Russia

What do you feel when you see Ukrainians off to war? What do you say?

- I'll go to a warm, cozy bed. I can take a weekend. But they can't. They're there, it's their war, their country.

Hope she packs a body bag.

Bloomberg notes that Chinese reprisals we reported on yesterday are just the start. We are heading into a new Cold War and could be seeing a future of tariffs and trade wars. The liberal world order is dead.

China isn’t short of options when it comes to critical minerals that could be used as counters in a trade war with the US.

Beijing’s ban on Tuesday covering sales to the US of gallium, germanium, antimony and superhard materials, and tighter controls on graphite, are likely an opening salvo in export controls that could be extended to dozens of niche materials if trade frictions with Washington escalate.

“This may only be the start of the country ensuring national security and its strategic role in mineral resources,” Citic Securities Co. said in a note.

The state-backed brokerage listed 10 commodities, including the 17 elements grouped as rare earths, in which China holds an outsized role as producer or processor. The minerals are typically crucial to high-tech manufacturing, including so-called dual uses in military applications.

As well as rare earths, Citic’s list includes tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, tin, indium, chromium, tantalum, niobium and cesium as candidates for export curbs. China also enjoys dominance in other commodities such as arsenic, which has a wide range of applications from herbicides to telecommunications. In recent years, the US has relied on China for 60% of its supply of the metal, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

‼️🇺🇦 🇷🇺Zelensky agrees to territorial concessions due to the advance of the Russian army, — Responsible Statecraft

▪️Since February 2022, Zelensky has changed his position and softened his tone on the issue of territorial concessions. This is associated with the pace of advancement of Russian troops on the front, at which "collapsing Ukrainian lines could cause a new reality to emerge in Kiev."

➖"Kiev's admission that it will not win this war militarily and that it needs to negotiate before it loses more territory is welcome. While this is still far from a peaceful settlement, it may be a sign that Kiev is now willing to discuss terms that could end this war."

I like how people think Ukraine is making concessions. How does one concede something it does not control. If Putin says he is willing to cede Paris, that really isn't a concession.

NATO plans to create a fleet of sea drones to protect infrastructure in the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas

▪️This was announced by NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Pierre Vandieu in an interview with Defense News.

▪️Drones would allow NATO to “see and monitor the situation on a daily basis.”

▪️They want to complete the project by June 2025.

Given the only major infrastructure that was destroyed was by NATO countries, you want a fleet of sea drones to protect NATO infrastructure from NATO?

Makes sense...

After reports of saboteurs , the Czech Republic has stopped receiving Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline for unknown reasons

▪️Industry Minister Lukas Vlceka noted that the country has oil reserves in case of critical situations, and refineries are prepared for possible interruptions in the supply of raw materials.

▪️‼️ 🇷🇺🏴‍☠️In Hungary and Slovakia, saboteurs are preparing a terrorist attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline; in Poland, this oil pipeline has already been damaged

▪️“Druzhba” is Russia’s main export pipeline, supplying oil to European countries.

▪️The Slovak Interior Minister recently stated that, according to “intelligence data, not only in Slovakia but also in Hungary there is an organized group that could conduct reconnaissance of the area near the Druzhba oil pipeline in the context of a possible terrorist attack.”

▪️Recently, a section of the Druzhba pipeline in Poland was damaged, resulting in a fuel leak.

Romania's far-right presidential frontrunner said on Wednesday he will bar continued Ukrainian grain exports through Romania and further military aid to Kiev if elected, and that Bucharest is not obliged to stick to NATO's defence spending commitments.

Speaking to Reuters in an interview ahead of a presidential run-off vote on Sunday, ultranationalist Calin Georgescu also questioned the effectiveness of European Union funding and said Romania's interests would come first should he win.

If Georgescu defeats pro-European centrist Elena Lasconi in the run-off, Romania could become isolated on the West's eastern flank and its key support within NATO for Ukraine against Russia's 2022 invasion could collapse.

Since Russia attacked Ukraine, Romania has helped export millions of tons of Ukrainian grain through its Black Sea port of Constanta, trained Ukrainian fighter pilots and donated a Patriot air defence battery to Kiev

All of that will stop should he win, Georgescu said.

"How could I agree to that? It is impossible. Romania and the Romanian people come first."

"It is unimaginable that there be a war next to us in the middle of Europe, so a priority will definitely be that this war in Ukraine must immediately be stopped."

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the AFU lost almost 38,000 men and 229 tanks during the fighting in Kursk region. Taking into account the fact that the fighting has been going on in the Kursk region since August, the AFU's monthly consumption of infantry in one direction alone amounts to 10,000 men. If we count in absolute terms (killed, seriously wounded, missing), the operation in Krynki cost the Ukrainian army about 3-5 brigades. Taking into account the known data, we can conclude that having an initial advantage and the effect of surprise, the losses of the Ukrainian grouping in Kursk region in just four months turned out to be about twice as high as in Krynki.

'Ukraine must make a "difficult decision" on further mobilization'

- Blinken continues to insist on lowering the mobilization age of Ukrainians.

'Mobilisation is important. Even if there is money, even if there is ammunition, people have to be on the front lines. Ukraine has to make difficult decisions about further mobilisation, but they are necessary decisions. We are committed to making sure that they have the training and equipment they need to effectively defend the country. And that is what we are focused on.'

'Why did Volkswagen leave the Russian market? Now they are throwing people out on the street'

Putin on the bad decisions of the German concern.

'Not only would it sell its products, but it would also continue to supply components, and would receive wonderful revenue. But now it is possible to blame everything on Volkswagen management, just so as not to notice its own mistakes, in this case I am talking about regulators in the government. And now the employees are to blame, who are going on strike in the thousands.'

German sanctions in the end only hurt Germans.

French journalist Aude Lancelin believes Macron could follow the Korean scenario of Yun Seok-yul

'Many of us want Macron to resign. However, knowing his character, his lack of sense of responsibility, I would like to say that he has lived for six years hiding behind the forces of order. And these forces of order are becoming increasingly militarized. I will remind you that during the crises that we have all lived through, increasingly tough units were mobilized to protect power. He will hide in the Elysée Palace until the very end and try not to go down in history as the resigning President of the Republic.

Yesterday you heard Michel Barnier say that Macron remains in his place and will remain in his place because, like General de Gaulle, he has a sense of responsibility. But we remember that in April 1969, de Gaulle resigned because of a simple referendum that he lost by 52%, and that General de Gaulle would never have done to the French people what Macron has done to them since 2018.'
