🍂Don’t let anyone steal your dreams.

I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his horse to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, “I want to tell you why I let Jack use my horse. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy’s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.

“That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.

“He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, See me after class.’

“The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, Why did I receive an F?’

“The teacher said, This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you’ll have to pay large stud fees. There’s no way you could ever do it.’ Then the teacher added, If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider your grade.’

“The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, `Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.’ “Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all.

He stated, “You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.”

Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, “I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4,000-square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace.” He added, “The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same school teacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week.” When the teacher was leaving, he said, “Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.”

“So Don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart, no matter what.”

Your Majesty

Once there was a very lazy king. He hardly did any physical activity. As a result he started staying ill. He called the 🌱royal doctor and said, "Give me medicine to get well. If you don't cure me, I will kill you."
The doctor knew laziness was the main cause of the king's illness. Next day the doctor gave big dumbbells to him and said, 🌱"Your Majesty, you must 🌱swing these magic balls in your hands every morning and evening for an hour. Do these till your arms start 🌱sweating and you will start getting cured."
The king did this everyday not knowing that it was an exercise. Within a few weeks his body became fit and he felt alert and energetic. He thanked the doctor and asked the cure's secret.
The royal doctor said, "Your Majesty, the magic of this cure will keep you fit till you keep swinging these dumbbells. The day you stop you will become ill again."
The doctor had taught the king to keep fit without 🌱offending him.

🎈GIFTS FOR MOTHER

Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and lawyers and prospered. Some years later, they chatted after having dinner together. They discussed the gifts that they were able to give to their elderly mother, who lived far away in another city. The first said, “I had a big house built for Mama. The second said, “I had a hundred thousand dollar theater built in the house. The third said, “I had my Mercedes dealer deliver her an SL600 with a chauffeur. The fourth said, “Listen to this. You know how Mama loved reading the Bible and you know she can’t read it anymore because she can’t see very well. I met this monk who told me about a parrot that can recite the entire Bible. It took 20 monks 12 years to teach him. I had to pledge them $100,000 a year for 20 years to the church, but it was worth it. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse and the parrot will recite it.” The other brothers were impressed. After the holidays Mama sent out her Thank You notes. She wrote: Dear Milton, the house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house. Thanks anyway. Dear Mike, you gave me an expensive theater with Dolby sound, it could hold 50 people, but all my friends are dead, I’ve lost my hearing and I’m nearly blind. I’ll never use it. But thank you for the gesture just the same. Dear Marvin, I am too old to travel. I stay home, I have my groceries delivered, so I never use the Mercedes … and the driver you hired is a big jerk. But the thought was good. Thanks. Dearest Melvin, you were the only son to have the good sense to give a little thought to your gift. The chicken was delicious. Thank you.”😶

Story: Military: A beautiful true love story

One day, a young guy and a young girl fell in love.

But the guy came from a poor family. The girl’s parents weren’t too happy.

So the young man decided not only to court the girl but to court her parents as well. In time, the parents saw that he was a good man and was worthy of their daughter’s hand.

But there was another problem: The man was a soldier. Soon, war broke out and he was being sent overseas for a year. The week before he left, the man knelt on his knee and asked his lady love, “Will you marry me?” She wiped a tear, said yes, and they were engaged. They agreed that when he got back in one year, they would get married.

But tragedy struck. A few days after he left, the girl had a major vehicular accident. It was a head-on collision.

When she woke up in the hospital, she saw her father and mother crying. Immediately, she knew there was something wrong.

She later found out that she suffered brain injury. The part of her brain that controlled her face muscles was damaged. Her once lovely face was now disfigured. She cried as she saw herself in the mirror. “Yesterday, I was beautiful. Today, I’m a monster.” Her body was also covered with so many ugly wounds.

Right there and then, she decided to release her fiancé from their promise. She knew he wouldn’t want her anymore. She would forget about him and never see him again.

For one year, the soldier wrote many letters—but she wouldn’t answer. He phoned her many times but she wouldn’t return her calls.

But after one year, the mother walked into her room and announced, “He’s back from the war.”

The girl shouted, “No! Please don’t tell him about me. Don’t tell him I’m here!”

The mother said, “He’s getting married,” and handed her a wedding invitation.

The girl’s heart sank. She knew she still loved him—but she had to forget him now.

With great sadness, she opened the wedding invitation.

And then she saw her name on it!

Confused, she asked, “What is this?”

That was when the young man entered her room with a bouquet of flowers. He knelt beside her and asked, “Will you marry me?”

The girl covered her face with her hands and said, “I’m ugly!”

The man said, “Without your permission, your mother sent me your photos. When I saw your photos, I realized that nothing has changed. You’re still the person I fell in love. You’re still as beautiful as ever. Because I love you!”

Story: Scientist & Log

Chief Scientist's Log 12/7/2007 12:31 AM

A new find was brought into the lab today. Men working the demolition of a condemned warehouse at this facility discovered a rusty oil barrel that seemed to exude cold. Preliminary electromagnetic field readings yielded chaotic data before the equipment died. Barrel appears to be constructed of stainless steel and, again, radiates cold.

13/7/2007 9:00 PM

We opened the barrel today inside a sealed chamber. Chamber immediately frosted over. Unidentified entity found within the barrel. Appears to be gaseous and black. Indeed, the very light surrounding it appears to be “sucked in” by it's presence. Appears to be sentient, but does not communicate in any understood way. Biological matter that comes into contact with the Entity seems to disintegrate.

14/7/2007 10:11 AM

An intern entered the sealed chamber alone today, without his hazard suit. He was not seen again. The Entity has double in size since being released from containment. Has become aggressive. We are sealing off the chamber immediately in light of it's flesh-consuming properties and rapid growth. All research is halted.

14/7/2007 11:00 AM

It's gone. God help us, it's escaped.

Story: Déjà Vu

A déjà vu is actually a glitch in reality, and it indicates that something has just been changed. Someone or something has ceased to exist, all memories and records of their existence erased forever. A déjà vu happens when they get into your brain, when they need to change your memories. Maybe to erase your brother from the world. You know, the brother that you never had.

One day an elephant wandered into a forest in search of friends.

He saw a monkey on a tree.

'Will you be my friend?' asked the elephant.

Replied the monkey, 'You are too big. You can not swing from trees like me.'

Next, the elephant met a rabbit. He asked him to be his friends.

But the rabbit said, 'You are too big to play in my burrow!'

Then the elephant met a frog.

'Will you be my friend? He asked.

'How can I?' asked the frog.

'You are too big to leap about like me.'

The elephant was upset. He met a fox next.

'Will you be my friend?' he asked the fox.

The fox said, 'Sorry, sir, you are too big.'

The next day, the elephant saw all the animals in the forest running for their lives.

The elephant asked them what the matter was.

The bear replied, 'There is a tier in the forest. He trying to gobble us all up!'

The animals all ran away to hide.

The elephant wondered what he could do to solve everyone in the forest.

Meanwhile, the tiger kept eating up whoever he could find.

The elephant walked up to the tiger and said, 'Please, Mr. Tiger, do not eat up these poor animals.'

'Mind your own business!' growled the tiger.

The elephant has a no choice but to give the tiger a hefty kick.

The frightened tiger ran for his life.

The elephant ambled back into the forest to announce the good news to everyone.

All the animals thanked the elephant.

They said, 'You are just the right size to be our friend.'

🍂The Dolphins, the Whales and the Sprat

In a sea, there lived Dolphins, Whales and many other small colourful fishes.

One day, the Whales harmed the fishes, who were friends of the Dolphins. The Dolphins got angry and started fighting with the Whales.

All the Dolphins gathered to fight against the huge Whales. The Whales said that they were big and strong. The Dolphins said that they were superior to the Whales. It looked like the fight would never stop.

When the fight became ‘rery serious, a Sprat lifted his head out of the sea and said, “I will solve the matter. I can stop the fight, only if you all accept me as your king.”

One of the Dolphins was very wise. He understood that the Sprat was taking advantage of the fight between the Whales and the Dolphins.

He replied, “We might get killed in our fight with each other, but will not let anybody interfere in our matter.”

The Sprat’s idea of ruling over the fishes failed. He understood that the Dolphins were very wise. They knew the interference of a third person would be harmful for everyone.

Never involve an outsider in your internal matters.

John said: “It is you who should baptize me!” But Jesus knew that God had chosen John for a special job. And so John baptized Jesus in the river.

Jesus walked from village to village, telling people about God’s love. One day he saw two fishermen named Peter and Andrew. Jesus said: “Come with me and I will make you fishers of men.” Peter and Andrew went with Jesus. Then Jesus asked two more fishermen to come with him. And they followed Jesus too. Soon Jesus had twelve good friends to help him spread the word about God’s love. They were called disciples.

People loved to listen to Jesus. Once, a big crowd of people waited all day to hear Jesus talk. They were tired and hungry. Jesus turned to the disciples and said, “Bring food.” One of them said, “There are only five loaves of bread and two fishes.” Jesus thanked God for the food and passed out the loaves and fishes. There was enough to feed everyone, with some to spare!

🍂The Easter Story

Jesus had many enemies who wanted to be rid of him. Jesus knew that he had only a short time left. The Thursday before he died, Jesus invited the disciples to have supper with him. It was their last meal together.

“Remember me,” Jesus told them, “when you eat the bread and drink the wine. I am going to live with my Father in heaven, but I will be with you wherever you go.”

On Friday, soldiers arrested Jesus and nailed him to a cross. Jesus said to God: “Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.” When Jesus died, his friends placed his body in a cave and covered the cave entrance with a rock.

On Sunday, a friend of Jesus named Mary Magdalene went to the cave. The rock had been rolled away! The cave was empty! An angel appeared and said: “Peace be with you. Jesus is risen from the dead!”

Jesus came back to visit his friends. He told them to teach about God’s love. “Tell the people,” said Jesus, “to believe in me even if they can’t see me.” And then Jesus went up to heaven to live with his Father.
