Anonymity? The other day, the databases with wallets, Telegram ID and other metadata were leaked. The topic is relevant, so let's run through the basics that any self-respecting person from the modern society of degen should know.
As soon as you link one of your wallets to TMA (Telegram Mini Apps), you give the application the opportunity to create a link:
Telegram ID - wallet address
But no, in fact, the link can be much deeper:
Telegram ID - wallet address - IP address - device ID*
*device ID - your device identifier, can be built on the basis of device
fingerprint.
If you connect the wallet to the site, then the Telegram ID disappears from this link, but everything said below is still relevant.
Having a database of such links, you can install wallets that belong to one person. And this can already be used for different purposes, for example, to filter out twinks or track whale wallets, etc.
Some applications create Telegram ID - wallet address links on-chain, leaving the ID in the transaction comment. Perhaps someone does this intentionally, and someone due to lack of knowledge. One way or another, keep in mind that all this is also collected by third parties and will be sold.
Often, when you make a transfer to the exchange, you need to specify some identifier in the comment. And if you interact with the exchange with several wallets, but with the same identifier, this also allows you to link wallets to one person.
Real-life example - swap coffeeLet's look at an example of how swap coffee saves information about you in its databases.
Recently, they decided to hold a competition, which consists in the fact that when exchanging a certain amount, a snowflake flies out, which you need to tap, after which the star counter increases.
So, this snowflake counter is linked not to one wallet, but probably to several wallets. This is easily verified using two browsers and two different wallets.
That is, they somehow save these links and can most likely restore which wallets belong to you.
As long as all this information is stored by services, not in the public domain, everything is fine, the user does not care. But at some point, leaks are sure to happen or someone starts selling this data. And then users start to be unhappy, because now anyone can see all 10 of your wallets.
After all, blockchain is not about anonymity 😭
