Today's "Rosa Luxemburgs" haven't changed. Today they are represented by Sahra Wagenknecht and her odious ilk.
Russia has always been treated favorably by the "anti-imperialists" and then later by the "anti-colonial" movements of the 1960s. All in spite of Russia being a far more brutal colonial-imperialist power.
But that was never a concern for the leftists. Because at its root, in spite of its universalist pretensions, anti-imperialism/colonialism has been an anti-western, even explicitly anti-white movement, meant to disandvantage the West vis-a-vis the Third World. Russia, on the other hand, since the Bolshevik Revolution has been the vanguard of the Third Worldist ressentiment against the West. That's why its colonial nature has been conveniently ignored, even celebrated, by the leftists. The same applies to China as well - another imperial nation enjoying the goodwill of the Left. Herein lies the hypocrisy of anti-colonialism.
