AI Profiles to Flood Social Media!

According to the Financial Times, Meta is planning to roll out AI-generated profiles that will live alongside regular accounts.

These profiles will have bios, profile pictures, and even generate and share content. Connor Hayes, Meta’s VP of Product for Generative AI, said this is the direction social media is heading.

Meta’s already launched trial tools to create these AI characters, with hundreds of thousands generated so far, though most remain private.

The idea is to make platforms like Instagram and Facebook “more social and engaging,” but not everyone is sold on the vision.

Critics have slammed the move as dystopian, warning of misinformation risks and a loss of authenticity.

🚨 Nvidia claims a new AI audio generator can make sounds never heard before

Nvidia says its new AI music editor can create “sounds never heard before” — like a trumpet that meows. The tool, called Fugatto is capable of generating music, sounds, and speech using text and audio inputs it’s never been trained on.

It can even transform the sound of someone’s voice, changing their accent or giving them a different tone, like angry or calm. There are ways to edit music, too, as Fugatto can isolate the vocals in a song, add instruments, and even change up a melody by swapping out a piano for an opera singer.

🔄 OpenAI failed to deliver the opt-out tool it promised by 2025

OpenAI has not delivered the promised "Media Manager" tool, which was intended to allow creators to control how their works are used in AI training data. Initially announced in May, the tool aimed to identify and manage copyrighted content but has reportedly not been prioritized internally. OpenAI has faced criticism over its current ad hoc opt-out methods, which many creators find inadequate.

The company is also dealing with multiple lawsuits from artists and creators claiming unauthorized use of their works. Despite missing its self-imposed deadline, OpenAI has not provided updates on the Media Manager's status or potential launch date. Experts express skepticism about whether such a tool could effectively address creators' concerns or resolve ongoing legal issues surrounding AI and intellectual property.

🔻 What We Learned About AI From 7 Active Startup Investors This Year

In 2024, venture funding for AI companies surged to $99.6 billion, an 80% increase from the previous year. Approximately one-third of this funding targeted foundation model companies, while the remaining two-thirds went to sectors influenced by AI, including healthcare, robotics, and autonomous driving.

Interviews with seven active AI investors revealed that AI is now a primary focus for many firms, with significant investments in applied AI. Investors are shifting their attention from infrastructure to applications that can significantly impact specific sectors. Concerns about AI accuracy and reliability were highlighted, with predictions for a blend of automated and human oversight in service roles.

🚨 OpenAI’s GPT-5 reportedly falling short of expectations

OpenAI's development of GPT-5 is reportedly behind schedule and not meeting expectations, according to a recent Wall Street Journal report. The model, code-named Orion, has undergone at least two large training runs, but progress has been slower and more costly than anticipated. While GPT-5 shows some improvements over its predecessors, these enhancements do not yet justify the significant operational costs.

To enhance the model, OpenAI is not only using publicly available data but has also hired personnel to generate new data and is utilizing synthetic data from its earlier models. The company has stated it will not release the Orion model this year, reflecting a shift in its approach to developing AI technologies.

🚀 The Reality of Artificial Intelligence in the Real World 🌍

When people hear about Artificial Intelligence, their minds often jump to flashy concepts like LLMs, transformers, or advanced AI agents. But here’s the kicker: 90% of real-world ML solutions revolve around tabular data! 📊

Yes, you heard that right. The bread and butter of Ai and machine learning in industries like healthcare, finance, logistics, and e-commerce is structured, tabular data. These datasets drive critical decisions, from predicting customer churn to optimizing supply chains.

📌 What You should Focus in Tabular Data?

1️⃣ Feature Engineering: Mastering this art can make or break a model. Understanding your data and creating meaningful features can give you an edge over even the fanciest models. 🛠️
2️⃣ Tree-Based Models: Algorithms like XGBoost, LightGBM, and Random Forest dominate here. They’re powerful, interpretable, and remarkably efficient for tabular datasets. 🌳🔥
3️⃣ Job-Ready Skills: Companies prioritize practical solutions over buzzwords. Learning to solve real-world problems with tabular data makes you a sought-after professional. 💼✨

💡 Takeaway: Before chasing the latest ML trends, invest time in understanding and building solutions for tabular data. It’s not just foundational—it’s the key to unlocking countless opportunities in the industry.

🔺 Elon Musk’s xAI lands $6B in new cash to fuel AI ambitions

Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has raised $6 billion, bringing its total funding to $12 billion. This latest round involved 97 investors, with notable expected contributions from firms like Valor Equity Partners and Sequoia Capital. xAI aims for a $50 billion valuation, double what it was six months ago.

Launched last year, xAI released its generative AI model, Grok, which is integrated into X (formerly Twitter) and is known for its unconventional responses. Grok has expanded its capabilities, including image generation and news summarization, and xAI plans to enhance its functions further.

Musk has filed lawsuits against OpenAI and Microsoft, claiming they are trying to eliminate competition. He argues that xAI benefits from data collected through X and intends to train its models using data from Musk's companies like Tesla and SpaceX.
