Most of us have been conditioned from a young age to subject ourselves to authority and hierarchical systems.
They made us believe that we need heroes to save us and tell us what to do, who our enemies are, etc. We delegate our individuality and it's power to figures, be them distant people of the past and their philosophy, or current people who in this very moment are making decisions with the power we delegated to them (the government).
It's a process. If you search long enough, you will discover not only that this isn't necessary, but that it's detrimental to human development, both individual and collective. You will find that there is no one, absolutely no one that could decide how your life should be lived, better than yourself.
Trust yourself, never delegate power on authority figures. Don't trust anyone that tries to take away your power and individuality. They will try to convince you that they know better. They don't. Keep questioning, searching, understanding, and taking back the power stolen from you, never give up, never surrender.
