For nearly three years, Ukrainian soldier Vasyl Kazymirko was held in Russian captivity after being taken prisoner on April 12, 2022.
At the time, he was serving as a medical driver in the 8th Separate Automobile Sanitary Company. After years of hardship, he was finally freed in an exchange on February 5, 2025.
Recently, Vasyl Kazymirko has personally removed the banner with his photo from the Alley of the Missing – a powerful moment marking his return home.
Countless other Ukrainian defenders remain in Russian captivity. Ukraine is determined to bring all our people home. We are grateful to our partners who support us in these efforts.
